The Jags want Henne to be more explosive minded per the FTU

#81

Yet again the team wants Henne to be something that he's not.  It's almost as if they're trolling the fan base at this point.

Does anybody think that caldwell could actually be doing this to try to benefit in more ways than one? Like, bortles gets to sit for a bit, and then maybe, maybe if henne actually plays well, you might be able to get something for him in a trade

Well, they certainly paid him like he was more than your average QB.  Unfortunately, like Henne, he wasn't up to the challenge.

If the team is pushing Henne to stretch the field, I would expect to see the mistakes piling up.

Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

I suggested that when the team announced Henne was starting months ago.  They're giving him an opportunity to increase his value.  If he does, great.  They've got a guy that might garner some  trade interest.  If he doesn't, you've got a veteran backup on the roster who accepts his role and knows the offense / personnel.  There's not really a downside either way.

If the Jags can get a pick for Chad Henne, I will celebrate like there's no tomorrow. Drinks on me

Who's going to trade for a career journeyman like Chad Henne?  Is there any team THAT desperate?

They got a pick for Gabbert.  Henne is better than Gabbert.  Some team out there might be interested in making a deal.  His contract is reasonable.  If he plays well this season, it would help his value significantly.

There are always going to be teams that are willing to take a flyer on a guy like Henne.  We're not talking about commanding a high draft pick here.

Gabbert was a young 1st round pick.  People think they can "fix" guys like that.  You don't fix 7 year veterans like Chad Henne.  Henne is what he is at this point.  I suppose some team could trade for Chad but I'd deem that highly unlikely.

If the team has a young starter they want to provide a stable veteran mentor to, Henne is a decent option.

Not saying it's not possible, because he's certainly better than Gabbert. It'd just be funny considering Gabbert and Henne are two of the worst QB's in the league.

Maybe Gus wants Henne to force his hand in benching him..

I couldn't imagine any team trading anything other than a 7th round flyer for a guy like that.  If a team is wiling to dump a pick for Henne then by all means I'll take it.  He shouldn't be starting anyway so give me a pick for him and I'll be happy.

All that tells you is that there's a finite amount of talent out there to pursue at the position.

Or, maybe he rises to the challenge and actually shows well.  It's not going to change his fate regardless. I'd prefer to root for him to do well because it only benefits this team on several fronts.

They are setting him up for failure. It's a good thing. Hopefully we win (ugly) against the skins in spite of Henne and his inability to lead a football team.

Then Bortles, in all his glory, to be declared the starter for the home opener, will be released upon the world.

Not a conspiracy theorist but this is what I was thinking as well.

Certainly, but he's never show the ability to consistently do this, he's just not good in the intermediate to deep passing game, actually, I can’t think of anything Chad does well.

He grows a pretty good stache.  Gotta give him that.
