The Jags want Henne to be more explosive minded per the FTU

Quote:Not sure but on that drive he threw two passes directly into the hands of the defenders, rookie mistakes, and he was lucky they did not intercept one of them. It is possible they are not starting him because not that he is not phys. ready to play but that he does not have a complete grasp or understanding of the complete playbook. We saw that the rookie WR were having problems causing henne to take TO's. Maybe he is ready to play but does not have the full understanding of the full playbook and they would be limited on what plays they could call. I trust the coaches to know when he is ready to go in and not the rabid BB fans.
That's impossible because he looked good in the preseason.  Clearly the coaches don't have a clue.

Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Quote:Same story with Russell Wilson as a rookie and somehow he survived.

It's amazing how that happens.  Both Blake and Russell Wilson are similar in that they have good pocket awareness and have the ability to avoid pressure with their legs.  They both throw well on the run, too.

Blake is good enough to play him right now and nobody has been able to show me any argument to make me think otherwise.

Agreed.  So?

I don't think they're holding Bortles out because of the pass protection.

Maybe this is the start of the slow move to Bortles.  The rhetoric of wanting more out of Henne will increase until by game 5-6 Bortles is inserted.

Huh

It wasn't immaculate but it was good enough.  I read that they allowed something like 10 total pressures and that put them at 14th in the league.  That's with Chad I can't avoid the rush to save my life Henne at QB.

They should just fire the coaches and let the experts on the message board run the team.  They know everything that's going on behind the scenes, right?

Quote:Actually, I said a little more than just that, but you're learning how to cherry pick quotes like TMD.  Good for you.

Nobody is saying Bortles wasn't impressive in his preseason outings.  That still doesn't mean he's ready to go, and the fact that he's not starting would imply that the coaching staff doesn't think he is.  You can keep on whining about it though.  That's really going to change things.

All I did was counter your "fact" with an actual fact which you in-turn tried to argue with a "minimal playbook" argument, which of course is just an assumption on your part because you really have no clue what plays the defense was using.

There is a larger than small chance that our coaching staff doesn't know what in the heck they are doing.

Quote:Yeah I get that, but his accuracy under pressure and on the run are something that I would think would translate no matter what. I'm sure he's gonna make a lot of mistakes, whether he plays next week, or not until next year. Sitting him, IMO, will only slow his development.

My only argument is they're only sitting him until "he's ready", I just don't buy it.

You're also not in the meeting rooms, or attending practices, right?

It's possible the coaches might know a thing or two more than the fans.  Just saying.

What exactly is being hurt by allowing Bortles to start when he's ready?   Is this team going to the Super Bowl this year, and the only thing keeping that from happening is Henne?  Were expectations so high this season that we must rush him out there?  I'm really curious as to why it is that people just can't be bothered with being patient?

He's going to make mistakes whether they sit him 3, 10 or all 16 games.  I would rather him work through them and learn from them now versus later on.

I thought Bradley already said they wouldn't have to scale back the playbook if Blake were in?  I may have misheard/read that.

Right.  Because these guys haven't been coaching nearly as long as luminaries like you, right?

So your positive that he has a complete handle on the playbook and when they call any play he knows exactly what to run? if he is still learning that would be one argument.

You're the king of petty things like this.  TMD isn't around so you're lost not being able to post about his glitter obsession, I suppose.

The coaches are always right, yes?  Then what happened the last 12 years here?  They can be wrong and still be good.  They aren't perfect and no matter the success they have here they won't be perfect in decision making.  Nobody is trying to say I or anyone else arguing for Blake should be doing Bradley's job.

Again, that's impossible.  He has the playbook etched in his memory.

Why does he need to have 100% of the playbook memorized in order to play football?  He can't learn the playbook as he actually runs the plays in a real game?  Let's just keep Blake at home so he can do his homework.

Do you really think that Blake doesn't have a good enough concept of the playbook to play a game?  I find that hard to believe.  As I said, others have posted that Gus himself said they wouldn't have to scale the playbook back if Blake were playing.  That leads me to think he knows the plays well enough already.

Where is TMD anyway? I can't think of TMD without thinking about his latest quote "Houston got their QB". That just makes me crack up.

Are you at the practices, or attending meetings with the position coaches?  You sure act like you have better insight than the coaches, so I'm assuming so.

Nobody is saying the coaches are always right.  I'm simply saying fans don't have nearly the clue they think they do, including you or me.  Until proven otherwise, you have to trust the guys who have been entrusted with running this franchise.  It's not that difficult to grasp, and all your complaining that you think Bortles should be playing now isn't going to change a stinking thing.  He'll start when they decide he's ready to do so.

He's a rookie.  He's going to make rookie mistakes.  Peyton Manning made rookie mistakes.  I hope that's not the reason they're holding him back for now.  The other reason (not knowing the playbook) would be a more plausible reason.  Whatever happens, I think most of us will be disappointed if we don't see Bortles by game 9.

That said, if it's a matter of him not knowing the playbook... what do they intend to do if (god forbid) Chad Henne gets hurt?

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.
