It's possible the coaches might know a thing or two more than the fans.  Just saying.

He's a rookie.  He's going to make rookie mistakes.  Peyton Manning made rookie mistakes.  I hope that's not the reason they're holding him back for now.  The other reason (not knowing the playbook) would be a more plausible reason.  Whatever happens, I think most of us will be disappointed if we don't see Bortles by game 9.  


That said, if it's a matter of him not knowing the playbook... what do they intend to do if (god forbid) Chad Henne gets hurt?  

Then you're forced to rush him along which is the last thing they want to do.

Washington has an awful D, so this would be a good week for him to start.

Are you at the practices, or attending meetings with the position coaches?  You sure act like you have better insight than the coaches, so I'm assuming so. 

 

Nobody is saying the coaches are always right.  I'm simply saying fans don't have nearly the clue they think they do, including you or me.  Until proven otherwise, you have to trust the guys who have been entrusted with running this franchise.  It's not that difficult to grasp, and all your complaining that you think Bortles should be playing now isn't going to change a stinking thing.  He'll start when they decide he's ready to do so.

I'm not implying anything other than we have no choice but to trust the process.  I've never said the coaches are right, but if you look at the progress Bortles has made with his mechanics, it's pretty clear their strategy to keep as much pressure off him as possible has been a benefit for him.  If they're right about that, maybe they know what they're doing by keeping him out?  Nah, that couldn't be.  Let's run the team by message board polls.

I would not describe anything Boselli has said as fawning. He pretty much said Monday night he'd start Bortles but it is not his call.

Boselli said Henne played real well Sunday. If that aint fawning or blatantly lying. We didnt score again after 14:14 of the 2nd quarter. That's not playing real well.

Yawn.  This argument has zero tread left on the tires.  Nobody is expecting Henne to become a top tier QB. 

 

Bortles will take the field when they decide he's ready to do so.  Until then, we should be trying to get the max we can from Henne.

They are getting the max out of Chad Henne. What other level are you waiting for him to go to? If he plays he plays we can't do nothing about that but it lowers my expectations on the future with Gus Bradley as the coach. But you're maxed out with Henne at this point.

all i know is, if bortles isn't starting by the home opener it's gonna be a long game for the team and coaching staff. if you think it's jut people on this board who have a problem with out QB situation, then you haven't been paying attention. if you were on twitter during the game, you would have witnessed the flurry of anti henne tweets that were there. every sports radio station talking about the jaguars has many people hating henne. when they get home there willbe boos echoing throughout the stadium. the owner won't like that one bit. plus henne will continue to be henne thus making there case for starting him all the more difficult to explain to any rational human being. i get i don't come to practices to see whats going down, but i did see the preseason. the coaching staff has also said they don't need to dumb down the playbook for him either. it's time to get the henne experiment over with and move on.

Exactly. Running the football becomes a lot easier when defenses fear the opposing qb. It's why moreno had so much success last year.

I survived the Gus Bradley Error.

I think they are slowly introducing the idea of putting Bortles in, sooner, than later. There is no way Henne is going to throw the rock downfield.  It will end up intercepted or no where near the receiver.  Hurns bailed out Henne last week.
