I would put Boyd. Mariotta, Hundley, McCarron, Carr, and Manziel all over Mettenberger. To answer your question, I think there is a pretty wide gap between Teddy and the next prospect, who is probably Boyd or Mariotta.

Well, its not Mariota, as he'll be a bust to any team he goes to that doesn't have Kelly, Harbaugh or Belichick as head coach.....so its pretty much Bridgewater or bust, the way I see it.

He certainly needs time to develop, but he has all the physical tools to be able to one day be a franchise QB.

It's funny.  You mentioned "Teddy or Mariota" in this very thread this morning.

 

Then somebody in another thread posts a single video of Mariota, and all of a sudden he's going to be a bust.

I was just talking to a few buddies. We were talking about a first take debate pre-2012 draft in which the question was "Did Blackmon make Weeden or did Weeden make Blackmon?" everybody on the show concluded that Blackmon was slow and small and that Weeden's stellar play elevated Blackmon's draft stock. Oh man.....

What in god's name? I never heard that talk anywhere.. Weeden was clearly made by Blackmon and Bryant for the pokes...

I never made any proclamations about Mariota until I saw him play. Thats better than some around here. My impressions upon watching was that type of QB is going to have to either be drafted by a team with a similar offensive system or a coach with a history of quality QB development. If Mariota doesn't go to a team that features at least one of those 2 situations, then yes, I believe he will turn out to be a disappointment in the NFL.

Only three things holding Blackmon back: QB, mental lapses (bobbling catches), and potential suspension. These are all correctable and Blackmon has the potential to be elite and inducted into the Pride. :yes:
