Um, if Flacco is considered a franchise QB, then Stafford is for dang sure a franchise QB.

 

Flacco made an incredible Super Bowl run.  I don't believe Stafford has been out of the first round.  There's a difference.

I was wrong about Trent Baalke. 

Stafford is a baller and I don't know why any of us are pretending he is not. He has thrown for over 5,000 yards in a season with just Calvin Johnson as his receiver. In this hypothetical, throwing in CJ is a deal te LIONS would never do. The reason the Lions haven't reached the playoffs isn't Stafford.

Stafford isnt much better though, but people who overrate Flacco/Eli really dont know how to evaluate a player overall. If Andy Dalton goes 10-6 with ok stats and gets hot in the playoffs does that make him a great QB? No, it makes him an above average guy who played really well and got some luck 4 games in a row.

Joe Flacco got hot at the right time? Go back and take a look at his career, especially in the POST SEASONS. I guess being the QB with the most regular season and post season wins in his first 5 seasons mean nothing to some on this board.


It's all about the number of yards that matter to some people on this board, especially when a QB has over 700 attempts a season.

He has the arm talent to make every throw in the book and is deadly accurate at every range. He didn't play his best game against Rutgers, but I tend to evaluate quarterbacks by how poor their worst throws are, and he only had four, by my calculations. Of course, I didn't have a lot of concerns about his arm talent and game because he was so consistent when I studied the tape. I wanted to see how he managed the game and situations at the line of scrimmage. He was outstanding making calls, changing protections and orchestrating things at the line of scrimmage. Bridgewater does everything that you expect from an elite quarterback from a mental standpoint."

 

Asked to cite a few concerns, the scouting director cited Bridgewater's "slender frame", but he wasn't overly concerned by his stature because Bridgewater has demonstrated the toughness to withstand a pounding in the pocket, citing the 2013 Sugar Bowl against Florida as proof. He also told me Bridgewater was a more talented and refined version of New York Jets QB Geno Smith.

I was most impressed by the character that everyone raves about. The kid is going to graduate in three years because he took 19 hours in the summer and is currently taking 15 hours this fall. That's pretty impressive."

 

The national scout also mentioned Bridgewater's slight frame was a concern, but he was so impressed with Bridgewater's character and arm talent that it didn't factor much into his evaluation. Although I couldn't get a direct player comparison from the scout, he didn't blink when I relayed my comparisons to Alex Smith and Aaron Rodgers.

I think some of the posters here have an underdog complex. They want to root for the second or third best prospect to step up and steal the spotlight. Or they just like being different.
