watch the line magically perform better when a better QB is behind center
what DL/Defensive Coordinator doesnt salivate at playing the Jags since a JAG is behind center. you dont have to worry about Henne making checks and you can always expect him to hold the ball too long, because hey, a QB needs 5-7 seconds to pass according to you guys. Drew Brees is seldom sacked and the Saints dont have 1 high draft pick on their OL(i believe). Manning was without Clady last year and was sacked about once per game. Tom Brady is seldom sacked. i wonder what the difference is??????????
Quote:watch the line magically perform better when a better QB is behind centerAaah, magic. Yep thats the answer. That and having Brees,Manning or Brady. Got it.
Jay Cutler sacked seldom
Matt Ryan sacked seldom and even before they drafted a LT in the first round this year Quote:Aaah, magic. Yep thats the answer. That and having Brees,Manning or Brady. Quote:Jay Cutler sacked seldom Why is it that Cutler can't finish a season then? Why have the Bears drafted O-Line heavy the past few years as well. Its obvious you didn't follow the Falcons at all last year. That's exactly why they drafted Jake Mathews.

Quote:Showing 2 pictures of a good pocket proves nothing. A blind squirrel finds a nut every once and while. Yes, and when Henne finds that nut, he trips on it and sacks himself. Quote:Jay Cutler sacked seldomCutler has a pretty good O-line. Ryan, however, doesn't have a quality O-line, so you are correct on that. By all accounts, Matthews has struggled also. What happened last year? 10th in the league in sacks given up and lo and behold they missed the playoffs. http://m.ajc.com/news/sports/football/falcons-fire-offensive-defensive-line-coaches/ncYXS/

A week ago it was "Henne doesn't throw downfield" Now - when he holds the ball long enough to throw downfield he takes 4 sacks more than he should have.
Yes, 4 more. I read the article and I re-watched the game. I don't like Henne either, but only 4 of those sacks are on him. That's still too much but it's kind-of understandable when the headline all week was - "Chad Henne to chuck it deep more." There is an obvious and direct correlation between asking a mediocre QB to throw deeper to a bunch of rookies and him taking 4 sacks that he wouldn't otherwise have taken. Should he have heaved it out of bounds on two of those? Absolutely. But - Chad took 6 sacks that are blatantly the fault of a horrendous day by the line. That's the way I see it. I'll be happy to never see him behind center again, but putting more than 4 of those on Chad and lazily blaming Fisch are weak sauce, IMO. Imagine Fisch's offensive playbook is a shiny new car and we as fans are taking it for a test drive. Well, before you climb behind the wheel, go ahead and remove the right front wheel and tire. Then permanently stick the gear selector in first gear and immobilize it. Then see if you want to buy it after that "test drive." You can't even get it out of the lot. You're driving in a circle at 10 mph with sparks flying from under the fender. That's how I see this offense functioning right now. Can Fisch possibly make some adjustments to try to spark the run game? Yeah, I'd like to see some effort there. Did he make a few head scratcher calls yesterday? Yeah, that's fair. But the sacks, and the O-line dysfunction are hobbling any hope of us really evaluating Fisch, IMO. Yesterday's offensive debacle was more the fault of the O-line than any other player, coach or unit of players. There's plenty to go around, but they earned most of the blame. Fisch is so handcuffed by the personnel he has to work with here it's not funny. You have a bad offensive line, a bad QB, a plodding RB, and rookie receivers. Good luck calling plays. Quote:A week ago it was "Henne doesn't throw downfield" Now - when he holds the ball long enough to throw downfield he takes 4 sacks more than he should have. They did press Henne to stretch the field. You're right that this probably generated more sacks for the team because they asked him to do it and not worry so much about making mistakes. There is a correlation. Fisch didn't make any adjustments to the game plan. We ran the same crappy run plays with the same crappy results, got into a 3 touchdown hole, and were forced to abandon any semblance of a running game. If he's calling plays to stretch the field at the same time the defense is putting 8 guys in the box and coming after the QB on every play, he's feeding their play calling and doing nothing to counter it effectively. Fisch definitely deserves some scrutiny here, but that's not how things work. It's got to be about one thing. When the line doesn't block? Henne's fault. When the receivers don't shorten their routes on the blitz? Henne's fault. When the receivers drop balls that are catchable? Henne's fault. It all starts up front. If 80% of your line is doing their best turnstile impersonation, it's difficult for anyone to be consistently effective. Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Good luck calling plays.Henne can throw a screen. There are weapons you can use to counter the kind of aggressive defensive front we faced yesterday in order to keep them honest. We didn't try anything. Even with a crappy line, young receivers, a mediocre QB, and a pounding running back, you can do things to punish a team that's blitzing you on every play. We did nothing to diffuse that, and the end result speaks for itself. Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

It was disappointing not to see a screen considering the Redskins consistently rushed 5 and had their ears pinned back the entire game. However, it's tough to critique a play caller of an offense that features Chad Henne, Toby Gerhart, the league’s worst offensive line, and arguably the league’s worst receiving core. I'm not going to judge JF until he has some competent pieces to work with, because there isn't a whole lot anyone could do with the Jaguars offensive personnel at this time. The skins have been playing football in excess of 80 years. yesterday was the most sacks they ever had. It was the most ever for our franchise. the O-line is historically bad.
Looking to troll? Don't bother, we supply our own.

We did nothing to diffuse that, and the end result speaks for itself. Exactly. It got to a point where there was no bluffing from the blitzers. We knew they were coming and decided to just try max protect and wait for the receivers to get open. That crap doesn't work very often. There are ways to exploit a blitz other than just trying to block. Quote:The skins have been playing football in excess of 80 years. yesterday was the most sacks they ever had. Better yet, why did we hire him in the first place? |
