Blake Bortles time!

I thought I understood the rules of this American Football thing, but what's this 'first down' they're talking about the Jaguars getting? Don't think I remember that before...

well, he did as good in one possession as Henne did the first half..

One possession and we look like somewhat of a competent offense and got running yards.
IT WAS ALWAYS THE JAGS
Bortles comes in and the offense matches the total offensive output of the first half in the first series...yup he is ready!
Needs to put points on the board, though. That's what he needs to have a successful first half...

I find it ironic all the excuses people were giving Henne and now just with Bortles the ENTIRE team has stepped up.

in my mind that game is ending 10-7 jaguars. i know thats not necessarily how it works, but when bortles came in it was 30-0
when luck left the game it was 37-10. they played pretty aggressive straight through, the colts, going for it on fourth and getting stuffed by jacksonville and still trying to go deep. it was only a few minutes but in my mind its very promising and a small win for us. i can see it but not hear it. does anyone know if this is permanent or was it just because we were getting toasted?
Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."

Quote:in my mind that game is ending 10-7 jaguars. i know thats not necessarily how it works, but when bortles came in it was 30-0 Well, it's 14-10 now. But, I'd like to see a strong 3 minute drill from Blake to win the half.
Quote:I find it ironic all the excuses people were giving Henne and now just with Bortles the ENTIRE team has stepped up. What is it about Bortles that made the offensive line play better? All of a sudden we could run the ball too whether Gerhart or Robinson was carrying it. Quote:I believe . . . in Bortles. He really is going to save this franchise when all of the pieces are in place for him to succeed.
Quote:What is it about Bortles that made the offensive line play better? All of a sudden we could run the ball too whether Gerhart or Robinson was carrying it. We've mentioned it before. He keeps the defense honest. He can throw the ball and make plays so they can't stack 8-9 guys in the box and shut down the run. This opens up the run game and play action. It's really amazing what a competent QB can do in that regard. He also evaded a couple sacks Henne would have taken. The future finally looks bright.

Several times I saw him run away from pressure and throw the ball perfectly on target. Could any other rookie quarterback avoid a sack there?
Fred Taylor said something exactly like "it's pretty easy to say that he [Blake] makes it easier for the guys up front."
Huh. Who would have thought. |
