But at the end of the day, it's clear that BB5 should have been starting ASAP. He covers the poor coaching and the poor talent on this team. He's just that good.

Yeah, he'll gonna throw INTs, he's gonna also throw TDs. He's our best option of being competitive.

The coaches should have realized that alot sooner than they did. With that said, I'm not fully comfortable with them. But I'll give them a pass for now, and hope they figure out the best way to utilize this QB. BB5 could very well be the best QB in the league in 3 years, if these coaches are worth their salt...

Oh NO!!!!! We took a franchise QB and are playing with poop house players around him! If he can't hack it, what have we lost? This team blows. The O-Line blows. Shorts stinks to high heaven. Gerhart is a joke. We might as well figure this all out now instead of next year.

I, for one, see BB5 as being legit.

I'm not gonna wring my hands worrying about the personnel around him. He's gonna have to figure it out. LEARN BY DOING. That's the best way to do it. This is a pass fail league. Once you are up to speed, you need to take the test.

It's time for Bortles to do this.

He's ready. He's so ready that I think we could have made this game much closer if he started....

Okay, I think I'm ready. We've sucked so long it's crazy to accept we might actually be good for the next decade.

And yet you still won't answer a very simple question. Has he improved his mechanics since his pro day? Yes or no.

Has he improved since the first OTAs? Has he improved steadily during the preseason? Yes or no?

Tap dance all you want. The answer to each question is the same. The coaches were saying this week that he was mentally ready. That was just this week. So, they opted not to start him this week, but he got into the game just the same. It was a good situation to insert him there, was it not? Did delaying his play by 2 quarters realy hurt anything? I must have missed being the favorites in this game. So, now that he's the starting qb, have the odds changed for San Diego next Sunday?

I guess it's all a matter of perspective. I thought ASAP at first was going to be November. But facts must create decisions.

After the pre-season, they should have realized that ASAP was the first game. They chose to give Henne the benefit of the doubt and start him week 1. But after the entire game transpired, and after the debacle @ Washington, they should have known they needed to start BB5 at home.

For them to drop him in after halftime shows a lack of guts and true leadership. Sorry, but I'm not all in on this coaching staff. If they couldn't see what most of the posters here saw prior to the start this afternoon, you have to question these coaches.

It's just that simple.

BB5 is going to cover alot of the ineptitude of Fish, but I think Fish is gonna hold back our offense based on the fact that he couldn't be strong enough to tell Bradley that they should be starting the rookie this week...

I was simply answering a question about Roethlisberger and Pittsburgh. I don't disageee that he's overrated. That team had a top rated defense and rushing attack, and they had good receivers at the time. He benefitted greatly from that despite the line not being very good as the poster I was responding to implied.

I agree that Bortles potentially is better than Ben, and could be developed into an elite level qb given time. I just fail to see what the rush is to have that appear to be the case now.

That is not the point people are making. The point is they made a poor decision letting Henne start the season. They have more evaluation tape than anyone. The point is this team has got it's butt handed too them in 3 straight games. IDK if Bortles would of made a world of difference but it was easy to see in preseason he was the better option.

I'd say there were less than 30k people watching him play.

We've consistently been blown out at home, it's taken a toll on even the most die hards.

I don't think they have this luxury of taking this rebuild slowly actually. I'm fed up as are most of the people I know.

ehhh.... I don't know if I agree with that... We could have very well been 2-1, possibly 3-0 if BB5 was starting from week 1...

Maybe I'm hyping Bortles up too much. But man, if we could have just gotten more sustained drives against Philly and Washington, those 2 games may have been flipped for us...

Going 3 and out on a consistent basis really messes with an entire coaching game plan... Again, I put that on the coaches for not being strong minded enough to know that Bortles is the real deal...

There's no way to know what we would have seen from Bortles had they started him week one. Would it have been better? Probably. But I hat would have been at risk? Behind that line, quite a bit. Putting him in when they did was the right move. The team was out of the game, and it was a defense with a weak pass rush. A good place to get experience.

Nothing has been harmed here. If anything, an argument could be made it benefitted the team letting him see the speed of the game and study real game film to learn how defenses scheme.

I'm not sure what some of you were expecting this year. He's in there sooner than originally anticipated. Brother than celebrate the fact that the team has opted to move on, some of you are stuck in the past.

Maybe for the first few plays coming out of halftime. They certainly got back to their seats in a hurry once they realized he was out there.

Did something change about the blowout losses today? We still saw them get blown out, right? I don't know anyone who is happy with what we've had to endure as fans over the years, but I think our fans are, for the most part, savvy enough to recognize that this team is progressing, and that while the process isn't enjoyable, the team is getting better. It's young, but improving.
