Quote:Now that the Steelers have finally won a game, if the Giants win Monday night, which is possible because Minnesota sucks, we will be in a race with the Buccaneers for last team to win a game.

If using SOS as the tiebreaker is stupid, what should the NFL do to determine first round draft order among teams with the same record?

Previous years' record.

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

Point differential, like I mentioned before would be better. Anything other than a statistic which is virtually meaningless in the context it is being used.

I hope you are just saying that because we would definitley win it this year. That would be even stupider than SOS.

I think the NFL got it right. One reason we have not won a game yet is our opponents: both undefeated teams, the best team in the NFC, and a 2012 wild card team.

But they had easier strength of schedules than we did :whistling: ....

I'm actually starting to wonder what will be the impact on our record when Marcedes gets back.  There's a possibility he plays this week.  What if we had Marcedes+Blackmon+Shorts+Ace+Brown + a more in shape a more healed from injury MJD?  0-16 may start looking less and less likely.  Or they could just lay an egg this week and we're back on course..   If nothing else, we have to hope Tampa Bay starts winning some games.

How would it be dumber (stupider is not a word) than SOS?

By all means, do tell.  Because previous year's record would be the best way to break a tie between draft picks.

Stupider should be a word.

Look at our roster. I can't count the number of different names on it from last year. If youf are a Jaguars fan, you know why last year's record is irrelevant.

Last year's record isn't irrelevant at all.   The roster is what is irrelevant.

Which team is in more need of a higher pick?

Team A:

Last year - 2-14

This year: 1-15

Team B:

Last year: 7-9

This year: 1-15

Team A who over the course of two years has won 3 games

or Team B who over the course of two years has won 8 games

Which team needs talent more?

I guess you did not understand I was only saying you can't judge which team is better this year based on how bad they were last year.

You have to look at why Team B lost six more games than it did the previous season. The most logical explanation? Harder SOS.

The fact is SOS can't determine which team is worse.  If Team A loses to harder teams in blowouts, and Team B loses close ones to easier teams, under the current structure Team B would choose before Team A.

How bad a team was the year before is a good indicator of how bad off the team is.  A team winning 3 games in two years is worse off than a team winning 8 games in two years.

BTW do you really think we will win only one game with 9 games left that include the Browns, Bills, and Cardinals?

It probably will not be long before the Giants win a game and everyone knows the worst team is in Florida.

Of those teams you listed... the Browns have a good Defense, the Bills have been playing better lately, and the Cardinals haven't been slouches either.

How many wins do we get?  Who knows.  Any given Sunday anything can happen.  But so far... we've lost all of our games by more than 10 points.  Not a great start, but let's see how we do against some of the weaker teams now that Blackmon is back mon.

You know, turnovers were the difference in St, Louis - they scored 14 off them and won by 14. Improving ball security will fix that. In Denver we played a lot better than anyone expected, giving up "only" five touchdowns to the NFL's best offense. So we should be OK after Shorts and Lewis get back.

The Browns and Bills should be closer games, bit I still think that the Jags will lose those two.

The Cardinals, however, are usually not a very good team when traveling to the east coast (yes, I know they beat the Pats last year). But, from what I've seen from them, east coast is not kind.

Still, they are playing the Jags though.

All four West Coast teams and the Cardinals suck on the East Coast. They can beat the same teams at home, however. So obviously the time difference is a major reason for losing.

Time will tell how bad the Browns and Bills are this year. I think Buffalo is the most winnable AFC game.

I thought of something else nobody has considered: coin flips. Would you be OK with needing a coin flip to decide who picks Teddy Bridgewater?

Tampa Bay lost today. That sucks.

Don't forget to root for the Giants tomorrow night.

Buccs need to seriously fire Schiano.  Like right now.  The team should just get on the bus, and not let Schiano get on it.  I'm assuming they took a bus.  I really don't know.  But whatever method they used to get there -- be it Bus, Plane, Train, UFO or TARDIS, Schiano should not be on it.

I never liked the Schiano hire. What was Tampa Bay's owner thinking when he hired him? The guy is an idiot and holds the title of "coach players least want to play for."

But for us Jaguars fans, it is obviously a good thing they have a crappy head coach.
