It is like comparing Andy Dalton to Blaine Gabbert in 2011.

 

This is a great comparison.  Blaine was a gamble and he busted, but that doesn't mean you can't hit a boom every once in a while.

 

I don't want Hundley for the Jags, but that doesn't mean he can't find a good situation and be successful.

OK I just got done watching 2013 cut ups of Brett Hundley's passes and attempts this year and I'm really failing to see the hype. He loves the checkdown, struggles completing passes over 15+ yards, and when he senses pressure his mechanics go to hell and he throws off his back foot. If we are going to compare anyone to Gabbert.....its him. The way he throws the ball does remind me of Campbell a bit. In fact, as far as arm talent is concerned, I think Blaine has more arm talent than Hundley.

Looking at the league right now and the many teams that are desperate for new signal callers next season -- Jags, Browns, Bucs, Titans, Texans, Oakland and teams that clearly have question marks Vikings, Eagles, maybe Giants, Steelers and Rams -- it's hard for anyone to convince him to stay for another season.  If he does declare and get drafted early, he better be prepared for the "Gabbert" experiment.

I doubt another year at USC would have done much for Sanchez. His value peaked in 2009 and he went in the top 5.

He hasn't really been tested by a good defense yet. I would suggest today's game against Stanford and next week's against Oregon. A head to head Mariota/Hundley evaluation would be fun.

Carroll wasn't talking about his draft value, he was speaking to his perspective that Sanchez needed more reps in College in order to be ready for the NFL.

 

I bring this up because that was the impression that I take away from Hundley every time I watch him play.

Watch a bunch of Hundley tape. He sort of shares that trait. He is athletic but he gets really awkward with his footwork/scrambling.
