Marcus Mariota Vs Teddy Bridgewater

The best qbs in the league (see Manning and Brady) are king of the short passes. Mariota thows plenty of screens but I haven't see many throws in tight spaces.

Here's something I have yet heard anyone address about Bridgewater that may interesting to look at. He was a former WR. How many WRs turned QBs have had successful NFL careers?

Was that in middle school or something?

I know he *considered* playing wide receiver coming out of high school, and I believe he played in some exhibition game as a WR his senior year, but he was never considered a WR.  He's always been a QB, to my knowledge.  Unless there's something I don't know.

In High School?

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

Teddy was one of the top QB recruits in the nation in highschool. Highly recruited.

I am not aware of him ever being a WR in Highschool. I do know a certain school tried to recruit him as a WR though. He received offers from;

Miami

FIU

USF

Florida

LSU

Tennessee

Louisville

Yeah and Brian Brohm and Dave Ragone say hi too. Using any past players as an indicator of a different players future success is a fool's errand.

People said the same thing about Tedford QBs forever too. Did that automatically make you shun Aaron Rodgers?

He was always a QB. There were some teams that wanted him to play DB or WR coming out of high school but Louisville kept him at QB

I think it was LSU that actually wanted him to. Likely because they got Mettenberger to transfer.

I could understand that "WR Converting" concerns if he ever played a college game as a WR.  Or if he had played most of his high school career as a WR.  He didn't.  He played QB throughout most of high school, and all of college.

Didn't say he wasn't. Just remember some show where Strong said teddy asked about switching to wr. Strong said hell no basically.

Comparing Dennis Dixon to Marcus Mariota is akin to comparing Teddy Bridgewater to a mule. It just doesn't make sense.

I think you are referring to when Bridgewater was warming up to play WR, and Strong told him he'd be playing QB.  A lot of High School QB's switch position in college, not by choice either.

They run the exact same offense and make the exact same plays. Mariota has a better arm. It takes a lot more than that to be elite at the NFL level.

Teddy asked if THEY wanted him to play WR. He didn't ask to play WR.

Thought he asked this during his first year. Probably just heard it wrong.

He had just been offered to play as a WR at LSU. He then went on a recruiting visit to Louisville. Teddy had asked Strong if he wanted him to line up as a WR. Strong basically said "hell no you are playing QB".

I have the whole story tattooed on my chest.
