Bortles is a problem

#41

I don't think Bortles is the answer, but he's only one of many problems with this team.  He's a rookie and plays like a rookie.  What does anyone realistically expect?

Weren't you the clown that thought Blackmon was arrested a couple days ago? I'm pretty sure you were that genius.

Rookie QB -  bad decisions and INTs is exactly what most of them do.

If you didn't see this coming you were kidding yourself.

I agree with the OP. We need to cut Bortles immediately and start fresh.

Quote:Let me recall didn't we say the same thing about Blaine Gabbert...Oh he'll be fine yea sure

Bortles in just 2 starts looks tons better than Gabbert ever has in a handful of seasons as a starter.. So yes, Bortles will definitely be fine..

Quote:We gave gabbert multiple years before declaring him a bust...... can Bortles at least have multiple games before we give up on him?? In these 2 games he also has shown more highlights then gabberts did in multiple years.

Gabbert had one wow play his whole career here and that was in a td in Minnesota to shorts

Nah. If he isn't elite by his second game then he's an obvious bust.

Bortles is the real deal. Its hard to be effective with two starting rookie receivers, a young line, and no running game. Biggest mistake the team has made was not getting Blake a veteran WR in the off season.

He didn't get a lot of help from the receivers today.  Still, this team is improving week to week.  They were close today but did some of the little things wrong.  Bortles' 2nd INT was a big mistake but the team played better all around.  The play calling was pretty conservative again in the 2nd half.  I understand Gus wants to stay in the game, not take a lot of risks, and see if his young team can make a play, but his patience is sometimes frustrating.

The WRs are a work in progress, but the OL is getting better.  I think Luke Bowanko may be the answer at Center.  He has played pretty well, and you get the feeling he will get better with experience and coaching.  Remember that Meester didn't even play Center until his 2nd year.

I'm not calling Borltes a bust by a long shot. Its the pansies in this thread that can't take a little criticism. Bortles can and should be a franchise QB. He wont be if he tries to emulate Brett Farve's worst trait though.

Wow you are a true moron.

Dick Lebeau is a hall of fame coach who eats rookie Qb's for lunch.  Bortles just made his second NFL start playing with rookie Wr's.  Your logic sucks

He has thrown 6 ints.  Atleast 3 of those are on the receivers not fighting for the ball.   We have so little talent on offense what do you want from this kid?

I really don't care about the first pick because it was a deep pass on a 2nd and 28. He has to understand he can't throw the second one and I'm sure he'll learn. If he's still throwing the same types of picks on a regular basis late this season and into next year, then yes it will be a problem. However, I understand these types of mistakes are a part of the process.
