I consider last year as a look and see season . It feels like the rebuild is starting now with all the new faces. This feels like a new team , even with the losing.

Quote:Who, if they are all good/great will demand tons of money and thus we will lose alot of them.  So, yeah...  Timing, right?
the idea is to get them developed and keep them...we didnt keep players like monroe potroast etc. because they didn't think they would work well in Gus's system and therefore not worth the money they would want, so caldwell decided to get all new guys and develop them in Gus's system

Cyprien...  He's a gamer...

What about Ace...  I think he was 2013...  I still like him as a player that will be a big contributor...

I expected 6 wins - maybe 7.

That was before I realized that Gratz would regress - Guy/Evans can't get it remotely done at FS - and the new additions at LB were either misses, injured or too young to make an impact.

I didn't know we'd have as much youth on the O-line right away either.  Didn't think Joeckel would need more time to grow into his role.

Certainly didn't know the re-vamped D-line would still be unable to stop the run and go through long periods of drought with pressure on the QB. (Ben had ALL DAY)

With those unexpected developments, or mishaps - it looks like 3 or 4 wins may be a reality this year.

It sucks that it'll take another offseason - but I see lots of young talent on the roster that might turn out to be quite good.

FS and OLB are the only places with no potential help on the roster. They are obviously the apparent weaknesses to our opponents as well since that's where we've been schemed against quite heavily. That's what happens.

Yeah, Gus's system...  The good old 4-3 wouldn't be a good system for Pot-roast...

And having a tackle on offense that is capable of blocking wouldn't fit into the Gus system either...

I'm being partially sardonic here, of course.

But let's face it, if you don't want to pay your talent when thier second contract comes up, you're always gonna be rebuilding.  And if you're always rebuilding, you're never winning or contending...  are you?

Quote:Last year was the tear down , a look to see who had to go and what was needed. This is the 1st year of the rebuild.

If it takes the GM a full year to figure who has to go and what is needed, a new GM is needed.

Year 1?  Now we're moving backwards.  It was year 2 this morning.

When you get into the endzone, act like you've been there before.

I expected more from Joeckel. Especially with us letting Monroe walk. I don't care if this is his "rookie" year at LT. I admittedly didn't mind letting Monroe walk at the time because I was on the bandwagon that LJ was going to be a franchise LT.

The LT moves are what scare me most about the current decision makers running this franchise.

Yeah, I don't know, I think CB is also a weakness.  I hope the OL get's better quickly, otherwise we basically have 3 or 4 new guys to find there as well...

It could be just a couple spots we need, or it could still be something where we're years behind.

I certainly didn't expect a roster with mostly rookies, late round draft picks, players signed off practice squads/waiver wire to be setting the world on fire after 2 off seasons...

If your talent isn't going to work well with the system you are switching to, they won't be much good to you, so yeah...get new people and train them under the new system...THEN, if they pan out you pay them

When did you think Ace Sanders and Denard Robinson were drafted?

The answer is 2013. And they have been good players for us so far.

welp, there's not much to argue with what you're saying...  The holding call on Joekel in the 1st Quarter kinda shaped the game for us...

I already said Ace Sanders, thank you very much...

Shoelace still is a work in progress.  But Ace is an impact player, if Fish would utilize him more...

It was both funny and sad when Ben pump-faked 3 times before throwing the ball and there was still no pressure when he let it fly.  Can't remember ever seeing a triple before.

Exactly...  They are running the team the way I run one of my fantasy football teams...  But at least that team is 3-1 and has a chance to win this week too!   Sick

"New system" is the most exaggerated, overstated and overused excuse in all of football.

When you get into the endzone, act like you've been there before.
