UF QB Treon Harris suspended indefinitely

Quote:It's the Driskell show?
For now. I am hoping the coaches decide to give Grier a shot.

Quote:If he's innocent and that turns out to be the case that this alleged victim was upset because he was with another girl, it just proves that women are just as evil as men. The fact that they can end a man's life with one phone call really [BAD WORD REMOVED] me off.
There need to be repercussions for women who make accusations that prove to be untrue. Just as severe, imo, as a man who is found guilty of this crime.

They'd go Skylar Mornihinweg who started several games last season.

Forgot about Mornhinweg.

Whether someone has a liberal, or conservative viewpoint, a authoritative figure should not lock a thread for the sole purpose to get the last word in all the while prohibiting someone else from being able to respond.

Quote:Yep.  This moral fiber thing that badger is playing is ridiculous.  Do you think things would be different had all these sexual assault issues not come out prior to Treon?  This has less to do with florida's moral fiber and more to do with how the public views things now.

I have no doubt this new crackdown and TV ads pushing no more violence towards women is a big factor in every school's new policies. I imagine even FSU will re-write their code of conduct now to make all the abused and supposedly abused women happy.

. I don't know the facts in this case and don't care what school it is, we have seen too many cases where girls are playing big time adult games, feel guilty about it later, and make slanderous charges of assault. The scales of justice have tilted so much in this PC world if I were an athlete or any student, I think I would make the girl sign a long legal consent form before touching. There are too many girls wanting a legal settlement payday on bogus charges. Harris should definitely be allowed to play unless an arrest is forthcoming.

I see both sides of the argumemt. It's not an easy position for the university. For example, do we allow AP to play even though he hasn't been convicted of anything? We saw the pictures. Where's do you draw the line? I don't know the answer.

How about innocent until proven guilty? That used to be the line. Then it moved to innocent until arrested, then the player had to sit out of competition. Now, any girl can make a charge, cry, go get rape tested, and a young man's one chance for a career can be ruined all based on a potential lie.

So at least set the line at being formally charged with a felony.

Sorry Banatha, I already tried that. Apparently "enough evidence to warrant an investigation" is the new standard for punishing people.

I was shocked too.

I am with ya, that is where we have gone, unfortunately, as a society.

That's why I think the punishment for the female should be just as harsh if found not guilty as if the male were found guilty of the crime. A false accusation is just as bad, and damaging.

Do you really think him sitting for this one game has destroyed his career?  No.  The only thing that can destroy his career at this point is whether or not he is arrested/charged.  This has nothing to do with "innocent until proven guilty".  He's being forced to take a break from football TEMPORARILY assuming he is not charged.  It's a game.  That is the thing that seems lost with fans.  He's not being imprisoned, he isn't being held in a cell.  He's sitting from a GAME.  Him not being allowed to play in a game or two is not the end of the world, nor his career.

Nobody is assuming he is guilty by suspending him from football.  It's just football.  They are just taking precautions during this investigation.  If he's innocent, his career will resume just fine.  If he's guilty, well then I agree his career is ruined/over.

This will be more than one game per the powers that be. He will sit until the investigation is through which will take weeks based on what is being said now.

I can see both sides to the story. You are seeing one. To play devil's advocate, this kid will sit multiple games for something he potentially did not do. You only get so many games as a collegiate athlete. You don't think it's a terrible thing that he's having to sit for something he potentially didn't do?

Not when there is a possibility that he did do it.  Is it unfortunate for his collegiate career, ya.  Is it terrible that he has to sit?  Not really.  You could make an argument that the team is doing him a favor by forcing him to concentrate on this matter rather than football.

I don't see what removing him from football is a precaution against other than the university's reputation. If that's your primary concern, then it's a smart call. I think the priority If you really think it's better for him to focus on this matter rather than football, that should be his choice. Forcing people over 18 to do things for their own good is in general a poor policy.

Though you carefully avoid the word in your responses, in reality, the suspension is a punishment. A punishment handed down without any proof of wrongdoing and with (at most) a cursory glance at the evidence. It can't be anything more than that because the evidence is still being collected!

Is it terrible? Not on the grand scale of things. Is it an injustice? Unless the administration knows more (much much more) than has been leaked, certainly.

Innocent until proven guilty doesn't exist anymore.

<p style="margin-left:40px;">Driskel probably paid off that lineman that punched skylar in the face, like he paid off the accuser of treon. if we see something in the news soon about grier, we know driskel is the mastermind that just cant let go hahahaha

Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."

Put yourself in his shoes for a second. Let's say you were caught in a similar predicament. Your boss finds out and says you can't work until everything is resolved. Not going to be paid. You know you are innocent. Still good?
