Who are we taking with the number one pick?

Praying we trade it for a kings ransom

But who are the top players? Don't watch college much besides rutgers

Are we thinking that Mariota is the best player in the draft currently. Are teams likely to offer an RG3 style trade for him?

After seeing what RG3 has amounted to... I don't think we'll have the first overall pick. Top 5 & Amari is likely

probably not like the rg3 trade but definitely would still get us good value.

mariota is probably the top pick

highly doubt we take mariota

if we cant trade down and we are number 1 overall, id expect it to be something like a dominant pass rusher.

maybe randy gregory, maybe the guy from USC....tough call at this point. the top of the draft looks bleak.

edit: i meant highly doubt we take cooper.

If we keep the pick, it will probably be Leonard Williams or a reach for a LB. I say this as we don't really need a new DE. You might suggest Vic Beasley, but he is a 3-4 LB. We play more of a traditional 4-3.

I would prefer trading down and grabbing extra picks. Especially in rounds 2 and 3 for this upcoming draft. I'd actually like 2 trade downs in the first. Trade down to someone wanting a QB, and trade down again for whatever reason and pick up Drummond in the first but on the later side of it.

Grab AJ Johnson and another person there. Perhaps Jeff Heuerman if we don't get another TE in free agency.

Hoping we trade down. Im trying to think of teams that have the ammo and need for a potiental great QB. Id be all for trading down to the middle of the pack for a 1st, 2nd and next years 2nd. With that sort of ammo we can maneuver around and possibly upgrade the LB corp and secondary in one round. Still a firm believer of a Prewitt/McKinney SEC West combo. Senqueze Golsen always looks like a intriguing 3-5th round pick for CB. He's about 5'9 ish and doesn't fit Bradley's mold of CB, but he's a pretty good cover corner. He's the guy that out muscled OJ Howard and showed great concentration to get the int that sealed it for the Rebels against BAMA

OJ Howard didn't get out-muscled on that ball, he didn't fight for it, period. OJ tries to high-point the ball and it's either a TD or an incompletion. Will give him credit for coming down with the INT with very little space available, though.

Rams, Titans, Texans, Jets and maybe the Bucs come to mind.

I think we should be able to snag a first for the following year as well. The QB class was supposed to be stacked, but Petty, Hundley, and Winston all seem to be sliding already, thought it's still really early.

Top 3 for me in this order

Leonard Williams

Randy Gregory

Landon Collins

Even though Williams plays a position that's probably our strongest and deepest on our defense, I think he's too good to pass on. Plus, depth behind Bryant, Miller, and Marks is not very good, and you can never have too many DLinemen.

i agree with everything you said except i think cody prewitt is significantly better than collins, especially for what we need on this team.

We need to draft Jameis Winston with the #1 overall pick.  He's pro ready.  He has tremendous leadership qualities.  He's Cam Newton with a wimpy looking body.

Ideal scenario is a pick right in front of a team that really needs a QB. Otherwise they can trade with the team behind us in the order.

The other qbs sliding except for Mariota actually works in our favor I believe. Supply and demand. Four qbs that teams consider elite means less likely of a good trade opportunity. But with just one elite prospect, teams will fight to make a trade. Anyone who thinks we need a qb before round 6 is delusional.

At this point in time, my ideal scenario is...

Trade down from a top 5 pick into the 20s for an extra 2nd and 3rd and whatever else next year.

#1 La'el Collins OT/OG LSU

#2 Shaq Thompson LB Wash

#2 Denzel Perryman LB Miami

#3 Duke Johnson RB Miami

#3 Arie Kouandijo OG Alabama

That's a start.  I'd also pick up some olinemen and linebackers in free agency.

I'd take a king's ransom all day.  That is the ideal scenario if we get a top pick.
