The only "shouldn't have" regarding Mularkey is he "shouldn't have" been hired as head coach in the first place. 

 

Mularkey's ceiling is position coach (assistant) at this point.

Khan gets a mulligan for Mularkey.  He was a new owner who was allowing the sitting GM to hire a coach.  A year later, he had a new GM and a new head coach, so hiring Mularkey probably helped things along.

Honestly, I thought Gus deserved a second season last year because he was new blood.  Mularkey wasn't.  Plain and simple.  And he managed to win 4 games.  If he manages to win 4 again this year, I'll be happy with him (though still hoping he looks into changing a coordinator).  Especially if we can keep games close.

Not exactly. Mularkey had a track record of mediocre. Gus was a new coach. Gus deserved at least this 2nd year.

I see your point of view and what you're saying. I don't think I agree with it.

The team was in a HUGE funk based on Mularkey's coaching.

Gus on the other hand ended his 1st season strong, plus, I think he honestly does inspire players. It's just that Gus isn't a good X's and O's type coach. And he's in over his head in terms of in game decisions, game management, in game adjustments, and clock management.

And I'm honestly getting concerned he's not gonna ever become that cerebral type of HC that we really need or is successful...

I hope I'm wrong... I just have some major concerns at this point. Major concerns.

I can try to drown out the opposing fans for a few more games by crunching on my nachos harder, pushing my ear buds a little deeper, and listening to my girlfriend scream for our opponents defense because she takes whoever is playing against the Jaguars in her fantasy league....and she's in 1st place. :verymad:

That's my point.  They act like spoiled children despite the team struggling.  They've gotten so used to just howling for the head of the next coach on a platter that they don't bother to allow things to play themselves out.  We're not even to the midpoint of the season.  Let's see how things progress as the season moves forward before we start demanding yet another coaching change.

 

I'm not spinning a damn thing.  We're 6 games into this season.  Not the time to be demanding that Shad Khan fire a coach because fans want heads to roll.

OK, sorry... I think I'm taking this whole spoiled fan thing too personal. I'm not calling for Gus' head. I'm just saying that if we're still seeing bone head clock management issues at the end of December, there's 1 person that should be held accountable for that.

I'm OK with letting this season play out. I'm just pointing out that the trajectory that this coaching staff is taking is not very comforting.

Though, I will give Babich credit for the 2nd half. We finally started playing must more aggressive at CB and with our rushing schemes...

But even with those highlights, I have my concerns about Bradley... That's all I'm saying. It may come down to having to fire him. But keeping him just because we fired a whole bunch of other coaches is a bad reason to keep him! Very bad.

Bottom of the league in offense and defense rankings. 

 

One of if not the worst in the NFL in point differential for a 2nd straight year. 

 

Still making rookie head coach mistakes and doesn't appear to be learning from them. 

 

Poor in-game/ clock management. 

 

 

I'd say my criticism has been earned. 

 

 

There were a lot of things going on behind the scenes that forced the team to dump Mularkey. 

 

Care to elaborate? 

 

Because there really didn't need to be anything else behind the scenes to assist in his firing. The showing on the field was plenty enough right there to earn the dismissal.
