Look, Gus is not a bad personality for this kind of team.  And maybe he'll be less rah-rah when the team no longer requires that.  Right now, he's trying to coach them up, accelerate the maturity process, stay positive, but also gradually stress accountability.  You can't fire the whole team, and many rookies do require a season + 2nd offseason to begin to feel they have some understanding about what's going on, what's required, how to be a pro.

 

This season needs to be a free pass for Gus and the rest of the leadership.  We wanted a good young QB, remember?  We wanted talented young WRs, remember?  We needed youth on the OL, remember?  Well, we've got all that now.  But you can't avoid the growing pains.  The worst of the growing pains came with early injuries and a patchwork at WR and OL, against quality teams.  Against lesser competition and with a handful of games under their belts, they're starting to resemble an NFL team.  Handing the reins to Bortles was an obvious turning point, but the whole team is gaining valuable experience now. 

 

The expectation is now about winning rather than "competing" and that's good.  That's really the first "pressure" Gus has put on them.  And, the team is getting healthier.  They will probably string some wins together at some point.  But this isn't a playoff season, so let's not bust a vein over wins or losses.  Enjoy the ride.  Next year should be a lot better.

Why should you care? These guys are or will be in the hall of fame as head coaches. Some even consider this bunch to be littered in the top 5 lists of head coaches all time.

 

Am I saying bradley is going to join this list? No. Im saying Quit whining and knee jerking like little babies. Lets have this play out 3 full seasons before we start demanding firings.

Can you give me a percentage of coaches that did succeed as opposed to coaches who didn't succeed after multiple losing seasons please? Giving me a few outliers does nothing.

 

There are tens more Rich Kotites and Mike Mullarkeys than those 4 HOF'ers.  It doesn't work both ways.

What's with all this "knee jerk" stuff.  Does Bradley not deserve the criticism for what he has done these past 1.5 seasons.  Improvement is all everyone wants to see.  While we see morale improvement, like the defense, it doesn't matter because the Jags are still 0-6.  I think people, including myself, are justified in questioning this coaching staff, especially the disaster that went on, on Sunday.

I think Gus may be the right coach for this team currently, but I don't view him as a long term solution. I view him as a good players coach and that's it.  He'll always have players wanting to play hard for him, but he'll never out coach another coach.  He's kind of like Marvin Lewis... Marvin Lewis has had one of the most talented teams in the past few years, but they've never won a playoff game.  He can win regular season games, but when it's time to come up with a gameplan for a good team... they choke (just recently against the Pats after a bye week I believe).  He had a chance to prove that they are the team to beat in the AFC with time off... but what do they do?  They get destroyed by a reeling Pats team.

Thats a stupid assertion. Not surprised 1010XL brought it forth. A coach that sees that this is a great opportunity would want to come here - a good, easy to work with GM, a young franchise QB, and an owner with deep pockets that really wants to win. 

 

There would be no shortage of quality coaching candidates this time around.
