Has Jedd Fisch ruined Blake Bortles Confidence?

#21

Quote:Your trollin right

Bortles barely ever checks it down

what he does do is state down his number one read but that is a product of young QB and needing to get the ball out quick

This.

To be completely honest Blake doesn't check down enough. He missed a couple of easy first downs yesterday.

He's not throwing scared. He's throwing to guys who can't make a play yet.

They even asked Fisch why we don't run a no huddle 2 min style offense all the time bc that's Bortles strength and he said it's because the receivers can't handle it yet.

I hadn't heard Fisch say this.  Was this at one of the press conferences or one of the radio shows?  Just interested to see if I can find podcast of it.

Quote:I am watching the game yesterday and I could not  help but notice two things, one Blake sure resembles Henne in many ways, the way he looks for the check downs way too often. And that he almost looks like he is is throwing scared. I get the feeling Fisch is ruining this kid by NOT letting him be Blake Bortles and trying to make him into something he is not.. I personally do not like the way Jedd Fisch is handling this offense and this QB. I know everyone says he is a freaking genius, but I don't see it, and I fear he is ruining this kid...

Its too bad that Blake has to suffer with an OC like Jedd short pass Fisch when Luck had the benefit of having someone with an aggressive style like Bruce Arians at OC his first year.

Having Fisch as OC with a QB with the arm talent of Bortles is like driving a porsche around at 20 mph.

I'd love to see what Bortles could/ would be doing with a Bruce Arians type philosophy at OC.

Quote:Some of it is the WRs fault.. yet again this week i saw D-Rob cause an Interception by stopping to run the route...

why on earthy dont they just keep d-rob as a running back??? he does good doing that... screen passes are fine but stop having him run routes down the field..

I agree with this - Denard Robinson shouldn't be used in any passing routes other than screens. Thats what he's best utilized in. Get him in space with blockers ahead.

So the receivers can only handle it in the pressure situation of actually 2 min left? because they seem to have little problem then.

Quote:Offensive line isn't helping either.  29 sacks allowed leads the NFL.

Henne was sacked 16 times in only 2.5 games.

Bortles has been sacked 13 times in 4.5 games.

Line is improving.  Now that we've settled on a lineup.  Hope they can stay healthy.  The younger players are playing better than our FA vet, which is a problem.

The deep ball to Lee on 3rd and 3 comes to mind. I'm perfectly fine with testing deep. That's just a prime example where a more experienced QB would have recognized the check down was a better option.

Nope.

Coming from the guy touting Koetter, any "analysis" you fling at the wall is flat out laugh out loud riot.  You're barking up the wrong tree again, again.

Broken record, zero substance, what a waste of bandwidth.

One of the commentators said it yesterday. Can't recall who. It was either during the 2 minute drill or just after.

I agree. But it is different to run a single two minute drill than an up tempo no huddle offense all game. I personally think we should, or at the very least use it a bit more.

I saw Blake attempt at least 3 deeps balls yesterday.

In time we will get them.

Blake had a couple of occasions where the wide outs were open deep and he threw short instead...

This one will last for a while.

Your options are similar to when there is a bad car accident on the other side of the road.

You can choose to ignore and drive forward. Or slow down to look at the carnage.

Your choice.

Agree.  There's plenty of balls going downfield from Bortles.

It's part of what made the run game so successful yesterday.

The WRs are getting better but its still a task getting everyone aligned in their correct positions on a consistent basis. That's the reason why we were burning TO's early in the game. Running no huddle for an extended period of time would only exacerbate the problem.

The one thing I've noticed every time Bortles throws the long ball outside the numbers is that they're never over the top of the receiver.  They're always to the inside.  It's one of the reasons one of them was picked off.  The corner had inside position in coverage and the ball went right to him.  Don't really know what else, just something I've noticed.

He's better throwing down the field when he's throwing between the numbers or if he's outside the pocket.  I'm hoping that changes as he gets better and recognizes coverages more.

Tbf if you take one chad henne game out of that's it's 19 sacks in 6 which isn't actually too bad.
