Poz to IR

Quote:Why are people getting so bent out of shape and accusing people of being happy about injuries for the accusation of Poz being an average linebacker?

Because we have a message board that has a number of fanboys for certain players. They tend to be ultrasensitive to criticism of certain players and also tend to overrate certain players instead of seeing them for what they are at this point.

Precisely.

Pox' best attribute at this point was calling the defense.

Poz reminds me of Brian Cushing. Energetic, first guy to help a teammate up, but just not very good.

my guess is that poz will wind up cut sometime next offseason, probably at a similar time babin was cut, assuming we have players that can step in and take his spot like branch, davis, etc were able to make babin expendable.

id say 75% chance that is poz last game as a jag.

I think there is a fair chance he will restructure and stay as a two down guy. If he doesn't restructure I think he's 100% gone.

WHat makes people think that they will make Poz restructure?? If they haven't asked Marcedes to do so (and he's MUCH more of a candidate for it over the past several years) then what makes you think they'll ask Poz to??....

Not a bad comparison/ description.

His play this year has been mostly average. Above average against the run at times. Below avg in coverage often.

The reason ppl are upset is that yesterday Poz played a really good game.  His best this year by a large margin.  Gus said he had finally taken ownership of this defense and really understood how to play in it just an hour ago in his presser.

We'd  likely be much better off with a healthy Poz out there than JT Thomas moving forward.  That's the concern.

We all know that the scheme calls for a faster guy with better cover skills at MLB, but he is (was) the best option we have ATM.

There's really no reason to with our cap situation.  Nor do I see this fabricated idea that he needs to be cut.

He does struggle in pass coverage.

But, wasnt he in the pro bowl? Sure he wasnt the first choice, but there are plenty of middle LBs in the league. To get to that level doesnt equate to "he sucks".

And its not just stats. He calls plays. His smarts is important. Then theres the fact that, who will replace him and be as effective..or better?

Leaders are not easily replaced. Unless of course you're the top MB coach, talent evaluator.

because poz is a lot more expendable than marcedes. poz is a two down LB

marcedes is our best TE and could potentially play every snap on offense, whether its designed for blocking or running routes.

marcedes isnt in a position to be cut.

poz is.

that simple. if poz is on the block and they offer him a chance to stay if he restructures then i agree with senorfantastico.

The pro bowl is a joke. David Garrard went to the pro bowl on a formality.

i dont think he NEEDS to be cut. i think next season he will be cut because he wont be the best guy for the position anymore.

Exactly!!! Yes. Preach! You just blowed their minds. These fans are so used to be mediocre.

Garrard was the 9th choice. Poz was the first alternate behind Willis and Bowman. His numbers that year were on par with Willis numbers but I wouldn't expect you to know any of this.

Yes.... Because the first 8 QBs either declined or were in the playoffs.

When you win people go to the ir. Notice when we were losing we were virtually healthy with a short injured list. Branch is a bigger loss to me.

Still doesn't mean the pro bowl isn't a joke. It's a huge joke and worst all star game of any of the pro sports.

Throwing a pro bowl these days to tout someones talent level is almost along the lines of being an NBA all-star. Any time a fan vote counts for 1/3 of the process, it is hard to take serious.
