Bortles is a problem

Quote:Oh all rookie QBS throw this many pick 6's. I didnt know that was normal. In that case lets commence on the love affair. Gonna cherry pick the pick 6s, hmmmm? Classic. “An empty vessel makes the loudest sound, so they that have the least wit are the greatest babblers.”. - Plato

Quote:Cherry pick? Is this what Bortles calls them? Great comeback, you should be proud. It's a much higher quality than your usual drivel. “An empty vessel makes the loudest sound, so they that have the least wit are the greatest babblers.”. - Plato
Quote:This kid is nothing like the comparisons. He's a turnover machine. He was inaccurate and threw floaters all day long. People are giving him a pass but hes the reason we lost.Sorry that Bortles didn't come straight out of college and turn into Peyton Manning with less than half a season playing time...We should fire him tomorrow and start all over with Henne until a player surfaces that can go from college to HOF in less than half a season

But it's not not enough to look like him. One either has to play like him or have a bunch of commercials like he does or it doesn't count
What I see more than anything else in Bortles play is his tendency to "telegraph" passes". He's not even looking around to try and throw off the defender with his eyes. He's advertising his throws and that has alot to do with getting picked off so much. Even for a rookie, he's starting to tally up "no excuses" numbers for the mistakes he's making. That's NOT something he should be JUST NOW learning to master. No QB worth his salt will last if they continually telegraph where they are going with the ball on their passing. Frankly, rookie mistakes are one thing, his bad habit of telegraphing his passes is NOT rookie mistakes. IT'S A REAL PROBLEM.

Failure to use the progression and locking in on the pre-snap read are normal behaviors of a rookie QB. The game will slow down and he will be fine. It's been FIVE games. “An empty vessel makes the loudest sound, so they that have the least wit are the greatest babblers.”. - Plato

It's been FIVE games.But...but...but....5 weeks should be plenty of time for him to mature and be at least on par to break Dan Marino's records...Geesh 8 weeks is 56 days, not counting OTAs and training camp......My goodness he should be in his prime by now We show less advertisements to registered users. Quote:That makes no sense. If Bortles is not talented, why not pull him?Give up on the guy you took 3rd overall after 5 1/2 games = pack your bags
When you get into the endzone, act like you've been there before.

Our hopes is that he's just learning what he can get away with. How fast people close on routes. And he doesn't have timing routes down with his WR yet. we need more plays in the game plan for intermediate throws... -
Bortles has shown he can make all the throws and can do everything he needs to be able to do as a QB. He's got the moves and everything else. The only issue right now for the rookie are these INTs, and that's something that can be coached. He needs to keep playing to learn why these are happening and how to prevent them. A quarterback can learn how to stop telegraphing passes. I'm still as excited as ever for Blake because there's nothing the kid can't do. He's going to be one of the greats once he masters the skill of looking off defenders and learns the NFL game a bit more in order to stop making poor decisions.
