Not shaken by Bortles dismal play

Quote:Do people know that Peyton Manning threw 26 TD his rookie year? Let me ask do you think Blake throws 26 in 2 years?Peyton also had 2 hall of famers in marvin harrison and marshall faulk on his team as well but for your argument lets leave out the facts. ![]() We show less advertisements to registered users. Quote:Don't forget about a couple of rookie/young QB's that got traded way way to early in their NFL careers, because they didn't exactly get off to the best start for a young QB.Dont forget Brunell
Quote:Trusting most of the knuckleheads of this fanbase to accurately evaluate anything football related is a really bad idea. Yep, a lot of us in here are just a bad idea waiting to happen. That is proven to me almost on a daily basis.
I survived the Gus Bradley Error.
Quote:Dont forget Brunell I didn't include Brunell because he had Favre in front of him and he was never going to see the field. Also, as great as he was for the Jags, he still wasn't on the level of Favre or Young.

This is my thoughts on Blake Bortles this season as our starting QB. He is trying to do too much instead of taking what the offense is giving to him and it's stunting his growth. Some of this got to be on fisch because i see other team's elite offenses throughout the league and they scheme their players open but it's not the case on this team. Although the INT's hurt but you're in denial as a fan if a person don't see in every game he doesn't make plays that most QB's in this league can't make under the same circumstances. His pocket presences is on the best i have ever seen from a QB in addition to his ability to turn a negative play to a positive one. If you look back on gabbert as a QB and besides naming the obvious flaw into his game as a former starting qb but his biggest downfall is that he had games where he threw for under 100 yds throughout a game and didn't get his team to mid field until the second half. Bortles rarely have 3 and out while being the qb and is constantly moving the ball down the field so that's encouraging to me. We're the same fans complaining about his performance but we asked for this so lets suffer through this with him and hopefully he figures this out for the betterment of his career.

Blake Bortles jois Chris Weinke and Geno Smith as the only rookie QBs in NFL history to throw for 4 pick-sixes in one year.
And there's 8 games to go......

Quote:Maybe that is so, but do you know many rookie QBs who threw a 1:2 td:int ratio with a good portion of those interceptions being pick 6's and going to become a successful franchise QB?In his first 5 starts Peyton Manning had a 1:3 ratio with 4 TD's to 12 ints. I think he turned out ok.
We should not panic.
I think Bortles has the CHANCE to be a very good NFL quarterback... IF he cleans up the interceptions and the poor decision making. Being a rookie and being young does not automatically make it likely that he will clean it up. All we can do is hope though.

QB lives and dies by wins and losses. No one's talking about the 6 points that were lost on the blocked and missed field goals. No one's talking about the penalty when Shorts took the ball to the 1 and would have most likely resulted in a TD. Granted 2 pick 6's are unforgiveable but there were missed opportunities all over the field today that could have changed the complexion and outcome of the game.
Quote:You're kidding right? The best thing about this team other than the defense is that will have another top 3 pick. Hopefully we cut bait with Gus and get a real HEAD coach and a real QB prospect. You're not serious, are you?
Quote:Bridgewater has been awful Bridgewater would have gotten hurt behind our O-line and missed at least a few games, which means you know who would have to come back in at QB. Did anybody even think of that.

Quote:We should not panic. We have gone from hopeless to hapless to hope. I'd say that's improvement.

We are improving but be careful...the Browns and Phins are not marquee competition.
Quote:You're not serious, are you? I don't think he is. He just likes getting replies.
Quote:Blake Bortles jois Chris Weinke and Geno Smith as the only rookie QBs in NFL history to throw for 4 pick-sixes in one year. Well one big reason for the pick-sixes is because there are so many rookies on offense that haven't learned to tackle or even stop the guy who intercepted the ball. They all pretty much let him waltz into the end zone.

Pick 6's are devastating in a game. It's such a game changer over coming one in a game is a monumental task. The Jags D was flying and keeping the phins to near record low offensive output. But then Borltes killed the Jags efforts with 2 of them. That's unforgivable. Who knows what points were left on the field. The phins fans are acting like they whooped us and its laughable. Spot any team 12 points and a fumble and you pretty much get what we got. Quote:We are improving but be careful...the Browns and Phins are not marquee competition. No but clots are and squeelers just dropped 51 on them while we only allowed them 10 points. Id say we are a better then we were and will continue getting better. Quote:No but clots are and squeelers just dropped 51 on them while we only allowed them 10 points.
