Amari Cooper

Quote:What makes you say that Cooper is "a talent the caliber of AJ Green/Julio Jones/Megatron"? Those guys all have at least two or three inches and 20 pounds on Cooper.
you're comparing size. i'm not comparing size.

jerry rice wasnt the biggest guy, but he's probably the best receiver of all time, and he didnt have the measurables of those guys.

this is all my opinion so whats the issue?

so you give your opinion and when people try to open a discussion about it with you, you just ignore them and then go on to dismiss someone elses opinion. got it. pretty solid.

Their size is what made them elite, rare prospects. I think Cooper is good but would be a "luxury item" for this team. So many other needs.

well you were wrong about his size and when i went on to elaborate on the differences you didnt even acknowledge it. then someone else asked why you would write off other positions. then you said this is all my opinion so whats the issue?......then went on to tell someone else that their opinion was wrong.

just seems like an unproductive series of events to have an intelligent conversation

Quote:still doesnt explain why you would scratch those positions off the list.
because why would we ever take a G, FS, QB, RB, or any of the other positions you listed in the top 5?

we dont need a QB

you never take a G, S, RB in teh top 5

DT, i scratched off because i dont think there is a dominant one in the top 5

Williams, i'm not sure i would take in the Top 5 because i dont think he is an elite pass rusher

i'm not sure i would say that their size made them elite alone, but it contributed, yes.

Quote:we can scratch free safety, tight end, linebacker, and offensive guard off the list for a top 5 pick.

but why do you think we have issues at guard? beadles has been solid and linder is playing probably best out of any lineman.

we can scratch QB off of the list. defensive tackle can be scratched off.

running back can be scratched off.

i'd say DE and OT would be the spots.

i dont think Caldwell would take Cooper, but i am saying that I would take him if he is there
Agree with most of this, except you aren't going to replace Joeckel and you don't take a RT in the top 5 either.  Only position that could be taken in top 5 is DE or WR, possibly DT if they don't re-sign Roy Williams.

I didn't say that either. But it's part of the package. If Calvin Johnson was 6'0 I don't think he'd be as dominant.

I wouldn't be too upset with it, depending on what other options are available. I don't think there is a true #1 WR on this roster. I really like Robinson, but don't see him more than a Crabtree type. Which is really good, but probably more of a low tier #1 and a really, really good #2.

I'm really curious about Amari Cooper.  The guy looks pretty darn legit.  It isn't a need, but man he'd be hard to pass up.  Personally, I'm all about taking an OT or DE if we pick top 3.  If we trade back, which I think finally happens this year, I think OT, FS, or Cooper might happen.  I know it isn't a huge need, but if this guy just keeps slaying it it'll make it hard for Caldwell to pass him up.

BORTLES ISN'T A FRANCHISE QB. FOURNETTE WILL BE A BUST.

If he is regarded as that great of a prospect, it should not be difficult to trade back and let value meet need.

White will be the better WR in the NFL too, but he'll likely be gone in the middle of the 1st

I just don't think he is going to do anything eye-popping in the underwear olympics and not going to have any "wow" speed//agility numbers which is going to cause him to drop while guys like Cooper//Duke Williams//Coates//DGB with be seen as higher potential guys that should "wow" at the combine.

I think White//Duke//Cooper will all be good NFL WRs though.

Quote:If both available, I am taking Leonard Williams over Amari Cooper every day of the week.
Agreed, don't think we're above taking a WR, but we need to get value with that first pick, Cooper wouldn't be value until probably around picks 6-10.

If we're picking in the top 5, we got to get a DLineman or trade back IMO.

I really like Amare Cooper, but receiver isnt a position I would imagine we'd focus on this offseason.  We really need a linebacker/safety/corner.

I'm interested in seeing more on Shane Ray also. It's hard sometimes to get a good gauge on where pass rushers will go. Two years ago we heard Damontre Moore and Bjoern Werner would be top 5 picks. Werner went late first, hasn't done much and Moore went third round and has not done much either.
