Do people know Manning threw 3 TD's and 11 interceptions his first 4 games? And yes, I think Blake throws 26 in two years.

Quote:I compared him to Favre ONLY in that he is throwing picks because he is forcing it, seeing how fast the defense can break on his throws. He also is learning defenses but he seems smart, has good pocket skills, throws accurate bullets for the most part with little help around him of a high skill set right now.

Who knows how he will turn out, but this year is a learning experience, all fans should know that by now. I wouldn't panic if he set a record for picks.

The problem isn't just the bad reads, but the fact that the passes are slow wobblers on top of the bad read.  If he makes a solid throw with velocity it is likely the CB has a much tougher time of catching the ball, and that Bortles gets an incompletion as opposed to pick-6s. Bortles has to get his footwork corrected before he starts testing the defense.

Please, and thank you.

I was thinking the same thing. Good he gets the mistakes now. He is learning, albeit the HARD WAY... I still like Bortles, he is NO GABBERT OR HENNE!!

Quote:The kid is making bad decisions with the football.

He can learn from that.

The intangibles he possesses bode well for his future. He's just not ready yet.

Not worried. It's hard to watch him learn the hard way, but I think he can grow from it.

Yep, he has to make those interceptions or else he will never learn what he can get away with and what he can't in games. This year's int total will not be indicative of his career numbers--rather, it is the learning process that has to happen.

Quote:Bridgewater has been awful
yeah....but he didn't throw a pick yesterday and led his team to a 4th quarter comeback that they ended up winning in OT......so there ARE degrees of "awful"
If that RV sales place wants Tebow in Jax bad enough to take out a billboard saying as much.....they should just HIRE him.

Bridgewater has a substantially better, more experienced offense around him.

He also faced the Buccaneers yesterday, so there's that.

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

I hate the INTs as much as the next guy.

But I knew they'd come.

He has to correct it and I believe he will.

There is a clear difference in him and say.... Geno Smith, who is throwing INTs at a rate that has him benched twice and the coach has no idea who to play. Him or the backup who's best days are far behind him.

Bortles is not a bust.

Not yet. He must show progression but I think he has shown enough pocket presence and makes throws that has allotted him some patience from fans.

Did I really read some posters saying he's worse or as bad as Gabbert, based on # of INTs alone?

Silly board... never changes.

no..  but Teddy has had a couple multi-pick days....

he isn't outplaying Bortles by any measure really.

If we were scoring touchdowns, i would be much more willing to forgive the turnovers.

Let's also remember he is not the one with 3 drops yesterday or the holding penalty that nullified the completion on the 3 yd line.

I'm not about making excuses for quarterbacks in a league that's setup to benefit the passing game

I'm not either, but rookie qbs with only 5 starts under their belts need all the help they can get.

It isn't even about that imo.

An inane amount of Blake's interceptions of late have been of the pick six variety. He's gonna toss some picks, that's a given but I don't see another interception returned against us for a TD again, it will be too soon.

I will give you that the lack of experienced veterans around him isnt helping. They almost "set him up to fail" in a way. They had plenty of cash, they should have spent more to get Sanders. I'd have even taken decker.

And a lot of people will say "no, i dont want to overpay for so and so".... Well then, you're gonna have a ridiculously young team then. And let's face it, we had PLENTY of money. Almost criminal they didnt bring anybody in, especially if our heart was set on blake

I still support Bortles despite his errors.  It's difficult to hate on just him when we have a large pool of rookies that haven't had time to develop.  Some of his interceptions look as if its a communication error.  Not sure if its on him or the receivers but that'll happen with a bunch of rookies.  Someone said we wanted him out their in a hurry, and well, this is what you get.  But we move the ball down field rather easily for the most part.  Its that 30 yard line to the endzone we can't seem to execute.

I predicted a loss to Miami but I didn't predict it this way.  Which is fine.  I am actually surprised how well we did.  People are bashing Gus Bradley but um, have you seen our defense lately? Wow, i'll take this any day!

I'm still supporting Bortles until I see more from him and say ok you've had long enough and still haven't gotten it down. Time to go.

Until then

GO JAGS!

BUCS are shopping Vincent Jackson.  Won't happen, but how sweet would that be.

If they arent at least considering the possibility that would be concerning. Id certainly send a mid round pick.
