Quote:No...but he's outperformed Bortles in several measurable categories.

I like that you left out the part where Bortles has thrown more touchdowns and has also ran for a lot more yards

Quote:No such thing [as meaningless games]. Not to the 53 players and dozens of staff whose livelihood depends upon what happens on the field.

I agree with the above.

Besides, this team has to learn how to win, and the only way to do that is to win. Even if we're 1-13 at the time.

To those Teddy bear fans,

It would be wonderful if we had Greg Jennings, Cordarrelle Patterson, Kyle Rudolph, and a VERY GOOD offensive line surrounding our QB.

Right now it may seem like Teddy has the upper hand, but in the long run, Bortles will have the better career.

Too many inexperienced rookies surrounding Bortles - from the WRs to the O-line. Once they also figure out what they are doing, along with Bortles, this team can possibly become a real contender.

The real question is, how long will it take for the rookies - and the team - to get it together?

We all know this year is a pass, but we should be seeing positive results CONSISTENTLY next year.

Bridgewater has two touchdown passes this year. I don't know that he has the upper hand on anybody.

My thoughts? Keep slinging it, BB? It ain't like he's out there killing our playoff hopes. Keep slinging it, keep learning, keep grinding.

It's better watching you screw up after leading the team on drives than raw ineptitude and 3 and out after 3 and out.

Keep slinging it.

Agreed.

I was waiting for an idiot fan or two to start calling for Henne. It hasn't happened yet. So, at least Henne is forcing fans to be patient with the rookie.

It'll get better.
Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

I didn't say he outperformed Bortles in EVERY category.

But the point is at this very early stage in their careers, the numbers are comparable enough to where the dismissal of Bridgewater as a QB prospect is inappropriate.

Worst to 1st. Curse Reversed!

Bortles has 4 pick sixes. Two of them were yesterday and were the difference in the game.

Longer term, Bortles may well be the better of the two, but as it stands now, he is certainly not heads and shoulders above Bridgewater.

I don't think either is playing well.

Quote:He was the most NFL ready prospect and Bortles was to sit a year
So why isn't he sitting? And learning? That was the plan. The coaches were either lying, started to panic, fan pressure, thought he gave best chance to win or threw in an early towel and do the trial by fire and have a 2013 repeat.

All I wanted this year was competitiveness, improvement. With that a few wins. If this is improvement, clearly other teams improved more. Still losing by large margins, not even the spread is covered.

The stadium is filling up with opposing fans. Not a good thing, except for Khans bottom line.

You missed them. They're out there. Some have even been calling for Gabbert back. I hope they're not being serious.

I'd much rather Bortles be throwing INT's, than as some have suggested (COUGHTHUNDERCATCOUGH) curl up in the fetal position and take the sack. It's really the only way he's going to learn. At least the coaches are letting him go out there and make mistakes, instead of coaching him to... well be Blaine Gabbert.

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

I agree with you that Blake Bortles will have the better career. Yet, in fairness to Teddy Bridgewater who is a good QB prospect in his own right, Kyle Rudolph has been out with a groin related injury the last 5 games. Four of which Bridgewater was healthy enough to play in. Also, the Vikings have major problems at both Guard positions, with the season ending injury to RG Brandon Fusco a few weeks ago a major setback for them. LT Matt Kalil hasn't often played like a top 4 pick since his stellar rookie season. When combining this with the loss of Adrian Peterson, Bridgewater is dealing with an adverse situation of his own. Bridgewater and his Offensive teammates are fortunate that the Vikings drafted LB Anthony Barr, who won the game in Tampa in OT, with pick # 9.

Quote:We carried losing momentum into this year because we were on a losing streak at the end of last season. So technically you're wrong and the momentum plan is still intact. We just interrupted it for a quick second last Sunday to shake things up.

Yeah, the entire premise of the thread is a head scratcher.

We were on a three game losing streak to end the season, coming in to this season.

Ted was advertised as "most pro ready" and that's been pretty well disproven.

Not by Bortles, but by Derek Carr.

In fact, the coaches have conceded he needs much more work than the so-called "experts" suggested, as Norv Turner describes him as a "work in progress."

Actually, Carr won his starting spot by default because the Raiders found out Schaub no longer has an NFL arm. If judging by preseason performances, both Bortles and TB outperformed the other rookies.

As far as who is the best rookie QB this season, we need at least four or five more games to make a more sound decision.

I hear he has the little hands on everybody though.

I hope we dont tank. Id rather still win and get some stats and get our team learning to win/work together better. I do want to more than likely trade our first round pick and the higher the pick the better chance of that this coming year but I still enjoy a win and seeing improvement.

Which I still feel as if I have seen a good chunk the past few weeks.

Quote:That a little "winning streak" will carry some momentum going into next (this) season?

So where is that momentum ? *whistle*

Hey, remember when we drafted the player at 3 that we would have drafted with the first overall pick?...and we got him. At 3. Despite suffering the misfortunes of winning a few games....

I still think Manziel will be the best qb behind Bortles followed by Carr.

this^ when you start winning it means your players are improving. Why would we want our players to improve to where we could start winning some games.
