Quote:relative to one's own speed, it should only take a couple weeks to get their legs if they, for example, take four weeks off.  at some point you will plateau and nothing is going to make you noticeably faster.  im not denying that continuous hard work will increase stamina and durability, but as far as speed/quickness go, it is what it is.

Ace looks noticeably slower IMO.  I predict that wont change.

Ok, well then I think we're mostly on the same page then. I might say it could take longer than 4 weeks to get back to peak though.

so athletes probably dont train for 40 yard dashes right?

Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."

Badger, you can train to improve speed.  Get over it.

That kind of training is more about technique in getting the time. And it doesnt necessarily translate to the field... which has been proven over and over

Not really. Deal with it. Any improvement would be very marginal... not the noticeable difference i see with Ace.

what people?  we 're talking about a professional athlete who has played football his entire life.  he isn't an average Joe trying to shave a tenth or two off his 40 yard dash in the parking lot.

Ace has been playing football his whole life, took 4 weeks off, has been back 4 weeks.  He isn't going to get faster.  Sorry.

Had a solid rookie season, took a step back this year. Could be physical conditioning and lack of an off-season in order to get life right off the field will probably benefit him and us in the future. We know he can be productive it just stinks watching him struggle. If Tandon Doss didn't get injured I don't think Sanders would have even seen the field this season.

No pain, no gain.

Oh ya, im the crazy one. Do you honestly think Ace is going to get that much faster in the next few weeks?

What has he been doing this whole time? He is still out of shape after preseason and four games with practice?

What is this magic training you speak of and why isnt the entire team doing it so they can all become Devin Hester?
