Cream vocalist, bassist Jack Bruce dies at 71
 

LONDON –  British musician Jack Bruce, best known as the lead vocalist and bass player of the power blues trio Cream, died Saturday at his home, his family and publicist said. He was 71.

Cream was one of my favorite groups.   Their reunions were not very good, though, I think they were just too old.   Especially Jack Bruce, who struggled through a variety of addictions and physical maladies that made him look much older than he was. 

 

I had all their albums.  Their concerts were pretty unique.  They'd start a song, and then go into a 10 minute jam session in the middle of the song.   Eric Clapton later called it "very self-indulgent." 

 

They were the first music act to have a platinum album.
