Jeremiah George to MLB and Thomas back to OTTO...

Quote:Looks like they're exploring life without Poz. If George shows some promise, at the very least, it gives the team some bargaining power in asking Poz to take a fairly significant pay cut. It's a cruel business at times, but it is what it is.

I think the real question is who stay in at what position for the sub packages.

Quote:Poz played great vs. squealers, browns, and tacks after he settled down and quit trying to do everyone else's job around him. Gus commented on it in two different pressers and it was obvious on the field as well.

The guy is a bit of a dinosaur skill-set-wise and hurt us in coverage early in the season, but he was playing very good football in the three games before his injury.
i wouldnt say great but he did play much better

If replacing J.T. w/George is the best combination, regardless, did we Take A Step Backwards?

NH3...

i think its too early to say honestly

for me what we lost in run support we gained in pass coverage and i didnt see us getting turned over across the middle

if you cut out two big 30 yard plays miller and tannehill had about 70 yards rushing between them which is pretty impressive whilst i felt like we covered the tight ends well and there were less holes in the zone that usual

Hopefully george will add in the run game and they can develop as a unit over the rest of this season and can see what we got

Should be noted that Watson is questionable with a hamstring. Add that with the want of George getting snaps and poor play when starting by Reynolds.....seems logical why they'd prefer moving Thomas on early downs to OTTO and then have him and Smith on Nickel downs

Hopefully these 2 guys pan out where we will be set at the LB position and we won't have to address the position in the draft, that would be great

Seems to me like the objective here is to get them both on the field at the same time.

JT seems to be their favorite at Otto, and they gave George the opportunity to show he could handle the middle and let them move JT back.

We still need to address pass rush, CB, and LB in the draft regardless.  The cupboard isn't bare, but it certainly isn't well stocked either.

Agreed.  Gus commented on "fielding the best three"  and it would appear they think that may be Telvin, Jeremiah, and JT.

Why not start Smith and rotate him with George?

Thomas has already started enough games on the outside for coaches to know how good he is there. Like I said in other threads, if it's not broke, don't fix it. The broken piece is in the middle.

OT and safety is more of a need imo

What games have you been watching? We can't be #2 in the NFL with 22 sacks if our pass rush needs an upgrade.

The problem at cornerback now is not knowing who to put there. Consistency can't develop if we are playing musical chairs to figure out who the best cornerback is.

As of right now, seems they prefer George on the running downs and Smith on passing downs.

The Bengals certainly will want to pass a lot more than they run Sunday.

Yes it's too early to make the determination of how any of our present MLB will pan out. The coaches sees something in JG to give him a shot at the position. I'm curious to see what he brings to the table...

Demetrius McCray already has. He needs to keep it up.

I am very concerned about the other cornerback position because we don't even know who to put there.

That would be Gratz. The position of concern is the Nickle of which Sherrod will play. He's been a starter before his injury so I feel that he'll fit in as well...

Laroy Reynolds went from starting OTTO, to what... 5th linebacker? Odd, because Gus seemed excited about him during preseason.
