Ask a Bengals fan...

Quote:1. I've been a Bengals fan since around 1977 (when I started to get old enough to understand football somewhat)

2. I absolutely remember the 2 SB appearances (can't stand the 49ers to this day)

3. Personally, I believe coaching is the biggest issue with Cincy having playoff struggles and not getting to that next level. Alot of people like Lewis, and he did bring them out of the "Bungle" days. But,, he's 0-5 in the playoffs (he had 2 home playoff games with Carson Palmer, long before Dalton even got in the league),, he has an absolutely dreadful record in Primetime games,,, and dreadful after Bye Weeks.

The Bengals are constantly making dumb penalties and situational mistakes. IMO,, coaching is what's needed to make the next step up.

4. Dalton,,, it's about a mixed bag of fans that are happy with him vs those unhappy

5. Dalton is average to above average IMO. At times, he is really really good. And other times, he is really bad. He's still young though,,, it's only his 4th season.

Thanks for the answers.

Those are some honest answers from a true fan of his team.

lol at answer #2, Hating the 49ers to this day. We Jags fans feel the same way about the titans. The Jags were 15-3 in the 1999 season and all 3 losses were to the titans, the last loss being in the AFC title game, with the winner going to the Super Bowl, and the jags actually had the lead at halftime. UGH!!!!!!

We are just happy that the titans came up 1 yd short and lost that Super bowl in such a painful way.

LOL I will never forget Kevin Dyson reaching for the goal line while lying on the Georgia Dome floor. That tackle was priceless.

Quote:Good question. I'm not sure about that. At times, he reminds me of Matt Ryan or Stafford. Sometimes, he reminds me of a "poor man's" Joe Flacco. Other times,, he reminds me of Henne, seriously.

Dalton can be really good or really bad, up and down. To me, "Dalton's just Dalton."

You were in the pretty good QB category for the first 3, then you just fell off the cliff and crash landed with the Henne reference.

Unfortunately for Bengals fans, it's Henne he resembles most so far in the playoffs.

The Bengals really need to get a home playoff game this year because it's so tough to win a road playoff game, if you are a young QB.

We all know it's not as easy as Joe Flacco makes it look.

The titans didn't lose that Super Bowl by 1 yard. They were 1 yard short of being a PAT away from tying the game.

Quote:Do you know anything about the Jags? Anything at all?
Lol. Not sure if you're asking me or not. But, yes, I follow the Jags very closely as I do Cincy. I just grew up a Bengals fan 20 years before the Jags were around.

I became a Jags fan "back in the day" in the old AFC Central when they were good (and had players I really liked) and the Bungles were terrible.

I watch every Jags game I can, when I'm not at a Cincy game. And, I have followed on this board for a very long time.

Jags and Bengals are the 2 teams I follow closely. I really have no rooting interest when they face each other,, I get torn, just hoping they are good games. Maybe a joined "Hatred" of the Steelers by both Cincy and Jax binds the two teams for me, lol.

I go to Bengals games due to my location. If I lived near Jax, I would definitely go to alot of them. I've seen Jax in Cincy a few times. I always love that.

Pretty cool that you chose the Jags to follow at some point.

My Dad's family is from south of Huntington - towards Williamson. They are a mix of Steelers and Bengals fans.  Pop is a Jags fan though.

This is what I do when teams I like play against each other: Hope they both play their best and it is not a blowout either way. I wanted Denver to win last year because KC also was undefeated and would have been alone in first place if the Broncos lost. However one of my favorite plays last year was Peyton Manning's pick six that made us a TPC away from tying it.

I live in Gainesville, which is 90 minutes southwest of Jacksonville, so it is a challenge just to go to one game a year.

But I thought you were a cat person! How can you root for a Bronco because horses can squish a cat?

That would depend on which of the cat family was represented.

It seems like a lot of Bengals fans are being very cautious about this game unlike Cleveland a few weeks back. Some are saying that this is a "Trap Game" and rightfully so.

This would be an even bigger upset then the Gators just put on the Bulldogs.

If the Jags end Cincy's undefeated streak at home, I will cry tears of joy.

and I will cry tears of ... well sadness.

I probably won't be surprised, no one believed me at first when I said that Blake Bortles would be a top 5 pick. He is now a top 5 pick, I know he has the talent. He just has that rookie smell still...

Bortles has a LONG way to go.  I'm impressed by his presence and escapability though.

Not today.   :teehee:
