    F.  Telvin Smith-  Smith missed a key tackle referenced above on a 3rd down that allowed the RB to get a first down.  Also got a stupid end of half penalty that was assessed on the Jaguars to start the second half.  He did have a good stop on a sweep in the first series of the second half.

 

 

 

He also seemed to be part of the equation on one of the blocked punts.  (Though I question the use of "specialty" players on the edges of that punt-blocking unit outside the tackles.  Me thinks we may see back-up OL players there moving forward.)

 

The rookie meteor burned brightly, fizzled and came back to terra firma this week.  Still like his upside, but he disappointed this week.

Arguably this team would have two more wins without the Special teams screwups.

I like the improvement from the defense over all.


Special teams have been terrible outside of kickoff returns.


Offense is showing some bright spots, but so far Bortles has not been one. I agree with Bullseye that they were protecting him in the first half and doing their "play within 5 yards of the line of scrimmage" thing, and that isn't going to work. His 4/5 near picks do help explain their reasoning, but he's not going to improve by avoiding throwing. He's going to need to work through it, or not, by doing.


I'm trying to not let his decision making and poor throws worry me, because I know rookies do these things. But man, it's not easy while watching these throws.

He seemed to underthow many passes, throw others into double coverage, and locked onto his receivers.


He will get better.


But yeah...these growing pains of his are painful for us, too.

I survived the Gus Bradley Error.

nice post Bullseye. I do concur on most of your points. The bunch formations bother me and clutter the passing lanes. Bottles seems more comfortable on the spread out formations. I think the playbook remains limited due to inexperience across the offensive side of the ball.

 

 

Nice play by a depleted defense. Consider who we are rolling out as replacement players and they are playing well.
