Blackmon can apply for reinstatement

Quote:I think some people are naïve if they think hanging out at a casino for a recovering addict is no big deal. It may be no big deal at all, or it could be an "assignment" from the rehab center, who knows That's an understatement. Especially given his history of behavior. It's always the same excuses, followed by the same result. He's clubbing at the beaches? Anyone see him drink? No big deal. Wrecked his car at 3 am? Just coming home from out of town, no alcohol, no drugs? No big deal. Bad things just keep "randomly happening" to a guy so dedicated to putting things back together. Right. Got it. Must have been on church mission handing out sobriety cards to the heathens and miscreants. Just like the other times he's been spotted in questionable circumstances. I wish him the best. But this is not him doing his best. Just like we've seen before. "There's nothing to it." What it really means is, he's keeping his demons within arms reach. After all, he's reassured us in the past he doesn't have a problem. More than once.

Quote:That's an understatement.Perfectly stated! Except for the fact that people can and do change their behavior...ASSUMING that simply going to a casino is a precursor to going on an binge is narrow minded thinking...Perhaps, maybe, just maybe, he's doing well and can live a normal life without having to try to avoid places simply because it looks bad for him to be there, but that would be too much for some people to understand... It's always easier to assume people are going to screw up than it is to wait and see if they do well...Believe it or not, some people DO learn how to deal with their vices and live a normal life... Judging a person by their history is not always what the future holds... I can see your point, don't get me wrong, however, I am an advocate of waiting for someone to do wrong. before I start screaming that they are screwing up...
I do hope he's on the road to recovery.... Play straight and in ten years when he retires, he can become the raving, pot smokin' alcoholic he's always dreamt of being.....

Quote:Talked to JB yesterday at a Oklahoma City GameStop. Said he feels better than ever and wants to catch Blake Bortles balls. Not sure how Blake's girlfriend is going to feel about that.
When you get into the endzone, act like you've been there before.
The 1 million dollar question is will he be as productive or anywhere close to the player he was before his suspension? It's hard to see him back playing football at all.

This is really a no-lose situation. If Blackmon comes back next year and he's as good as he was at his peak, it's a huge bonus for the Jags as he simply adds depth to a young WR corps.
If Blackmon fails again or he isn't the same player, the Jags cut him and move on. It's all really up to Blackmon. I think he comes back and has a solid career, but has to fight the demons the rest of his life. Reminds me just a bit of Jimmy Smith, one of my favorite Jags.. I think we all know Blackmon has the talent to be away from the game for as long as he has and come back and make an immediate comeback. He showed that with his 200+ yard reception game coming back from however many games suspension he had. He will make an immediate impact.

It's the continuing pattern of stupid choices that have caused his problems and raise speculation that he will never return to football.

I don't know if being in a casino is a good choice for him or not. I DO know when I quit smoking I would go sit in a smoky bar to test my resolve to the max to see if I had the will to not smoke. It's been 15 years ago and still no cigarette.

As of right now BARRING SETBACKS, he will be on the 2015 roster. I gave up on him along time ago, but as of now, I believe he will be back.

Part of recovery is to test the waters.... If he can enjoy casino without alcohol there is no problem with that at all
Get off his [BLEEP] You'll all be praising him the day he catches a TD Close this thread. It's ridiculous Quote:Part of recovery is to test the waters.... If he can enjoy casino without alcohol there is no problem with that at allSo, by your logic, if he can be in a casino at 9 AM when alcohol is not being served, he's overcome the problem? ![]() P.S. Feel free to stop posting if it's ridiculous.

Quote:So, by your logic, if he can be in a casino at 9 AM when alcohol is not being served, he's overcome the problem? He's the 2nd person in the past few posts to post that testing the waters so to speak is part of recovery. Do you remember seeing any type of report from the same day saying he was arrested or involved in some awkward accident at 3 in the morning where alcohol could have been involved? Until something else surfaces showing an arrest or anything of the sort, you should try and look at the positive side that maybe he is finally turning a corner. I know the Jags don't have that kind of luck, but humanity does every now and then, so give it a chance first.
