Gene Smith and his effect on the current regime.

Fact of the matter is the team hasn't gotten better from year one to two after a total rebuild. The team has a good chance of not being good next year too. Don't see why people are still blaming Gene Smith for that. Sounds like it's just what the organization and zombie fans love to do which is make excuses for that not happening.

Oh wait were still at the bottom bc he's 2 drafts in which means 14 players to rebuild 53

OMGOMGOMG

WHAT WILL WE DO
Dude, I know the mods here are huge apologists...but this trolling is getting out of control...

Yes, it's improvement, but it's Blaine Gabbert 2012 level improvement. - Pirkster

I think we've given DC the benefit of the doubt. This team is still a train wreck. Bortles lost his poise and confidence. No big play threat in the passing game. If this team doesn't make serious strides next year nothing is off the table. I've also seen enough of Jedd's stupid high school offense. We had a real NFL QB and he has somehow turned him into a checkdown and letdown machine.

No pain, no gain.

I sure as hell would love to have some veterans like Smith, Pot Roast, and Monroe here.

We would still have a super young team even with those guys here.

The discouraging part is that we haven't gotten better from year 1 to year 2 of the rebuild, and that the 2013 draft class doesn't look improved at all. In fact, the most important draft choices (top 3 rounds) look more like Gene Smith picks than we all would like to admit.

Drafting another bust in the 3rd isn't much better.  (If Gratz busts)

I would draft Dwayne Gratz, retrospect included, every day over Anger.

It doesn't matter what Gene Smith did because he isn't pulling the trigger now.  The front office is going with a wins don't matter build right now and until we get to a point where the excuses dry up (2015), it is going to be more of the same.

People already calling the 2013 draft busts. Whew. Nice take.

Too early to call anyone a bust from the 2013 draft class...

But you can make an educated opinion based on nearly 2 years of seeing them play in the NFL.

Lol, me too. After two years you have little impact. That is very concerning. But hey you can't judge non rookies bc it's ALWAYS too early around here. Just wait until "next year" to see what happens. It's always next year isn't it Tommy?

Every other team in the league you can see impact from their rookies and second year players, but for our team, we need to give them time to see what they can do, and then after 4 years we say bust...same story year after year.

Lol why can't you? Do all players suck within the first 2 years?

Stop dude. You're seriously making yourself into the biggest idiot on the board.

It's just a big logic fail to say one must take 3 years to evaluate talent... In some situations maybe, but not all.

Sometimes you can tell right away, example grabbert.

Other times you may see a rookie make the leap, example shoelace

But to say you MUST give every player 3 years is just silly.

It's just people who don't want to see the inevitable. They have to believe they will emerge one day, but we all know they won't.

I don't. Nor will I. I'm just pointing out, after two years of crappy play, don't hold out hope for some of these guys. I wish we were stacked with pro bowlers, but we aren't right now. Gus/Fisch aren't helping these players causes anyway.
