Salary Cap 2015

Quote:If Justin Houston somehow hits free agency, I hope we just hand him a blank check and tell him to write whatever number he wants.

Without a doubt. But he's not going anywhere at all.

I'd be ecstatic for 2015 if the Jags landed at least 3 of those guys. I don't think that's out of the realm of possibility.

TE is something I'd like to see addressed in the draft.

I would be happy with any of them - or all of them....

Quote:Considering we've had oodles of money going into FA every year and haven't spent it, what confidence is there that we will actually spend this year.  The argument that we have heard for not spending much is that we are saving it to be able to re-sign our own guys when they come up for new contracts.  Are we going to continue saving our money in the hopes that these new draft picks are good enough to re-sign, or will we actually go out there and get some talent.

Sorry, consider me jaded.
Name one contract coming to a end in 2 to 3 years we need to step up. Remember all the draft picks for the last 2 years will not be up for 3 to 4 years.

It is time to spend!!! NOW

Devin McCourty should surely be our number 1 target given the issues at free safety. I feel we need someone with some experience in that position. I would be surprised though if he didnt resign with the Patriots

I like Suh, but he's one of the most penalized players in the game. He would certainly provide a badly needed spark to this defense, but he's also an expensive risk.

We're not giving Suh 100 million. No way he's a jaguar

Yep that was the plan all along. Its early but tbh I dont see any players Caldwell drafted so far commanding huge money to resign

I like free agency, it's one of the times of the year I have hope for the season. It's downhill from there unfortunately though

The Salary Cap for 2015 is going to be a fun run for the Jags if we can get any FA to come here. Also Lewis,Poz and Aluahu will give us 18,000 million more if we cut them. We will have around 65 to 70 million dollars to spend. So most likely we will spend 50 million. Who else may be cut?

http://overthecap.com/salary-cap/jacksonville-jaguars

Raiders $54,881,162 $140,000,000 $84,202,813 $916,025 Jaguars $44,052,172 $140,000,000 $95,559,712 $388,116 Jets $41,190,680 $140,000,000 $97,266,789 $1,542,531 Browns $38,181,890 $140,000,000 $100,328,450 $1,489,6

It's not like the Jaguars are over the cap where they have to search for ways to find room. I don't see Lewis or Poz going anywhere as these two are probably the best players on their side of the ball. Alualu may be a tougher decision although cutting him saves less than $2.5 mil. Cutting Ziggy Hood instead would save nearly $4 mil. Also of note, cutting Gerhart would save about $2.5 mil.

I don't see the fascination with bringing in Jermaine Gresham.

Perhaps Julius Thomas.

Quote:There are a lot of players we can go after. The Watson,Gehardt and Hood signings have not been good. In fact no one from last year except Clemons and maybe Bryant have been worth the money. Also look how much Scobee is making? Over 4,000,000 which can be upgraded with a younger leg and tons less money.

TE-LG-LEO-S-LB should be tops on our list.
Scobee makes 4 million? That can't be right. That dude blows now and is kicking nothing but low line drives because he's falling off. He should've been cut last year at that price.

He will be unless he is willing to renegotiate. Its just to much money for a kicker.
