Week 14 Games Of Interest, Rivalry Week!

Quote:Great teams find ways to win. Those two teams who are ranked ahead of FSU have not done that all season. I'm happy to be in the playoff, but it's a travesty that two teams with one loss are ranked higher than an undefeated team that plays in the power 5 conference. Wins should be what counts when there is only one team left undefeated.

Great teams do find ways to win.  But great teams dont consistently struggle to beat average teams.  Two things will eventually happen.  Their luck will run out and they'll lose a few.  Or they'll continue to win but they'll begin to blow these teams out more often.

Quote:That describes FSU. If Florida State can get rewarded for squeaking out wins agianst several bad teams, why isn't UCLA in the playoff conversation?

Because UCLA has two losses and FSU is undefeated.  If FSU had two losses they'd be lucky to be in the top 10.  I dont think FSU would be in the top 10 actually.  UCLA's two losses are to Oregon and Utah.  FSU wouldnt have two losses that are that comparable.  And UCLA's blowout win over Arizona St is probably more impressive than any of FSU's wins.

I think any undefeated team in a power conference will get the benefit of the doubt.

No FSU win was impressive at all, actually. The Seminoles should have at least two losses - Notre Dame and Boston College. The Pacific 12 is better than the ACC. If voters were smart, FSU and UCLA would be much closer in the rankings.

if alabama or miss st played the same schedule as FSU, they would both be undefeated and wouldnt have had all those close calls.

if everyone played the same schedule then you would be correct, but they dont.

How do you know a team that lost to Ole Miss would not lose to Notre Dame? Since the Rebels beat Alabama, they have been shut out two straight weeks and plummeted out of playoff contention.

My fear came true: TCU blew out Texas. Good thing I did not watch any of that game.

One more win next week should almost guarantee the Frogs are in it . . . unless Baylor wins the Big 12 title.

What makes you think that if the other 4 teams win out?

I was going to try to explain it to you but you wouldn't understand anyway.

Big game tonight!  UCF is about to pound USF in their home stadium...then again I said that last year and USF gave them a pretty tough game.

If Oregon almost loses tomorrow and Texas Christian wins decisively next week, can you really make an argument against the Frogs, whose only loss was by three points to Baylor? The only reason not to let TCU get in and kick out Oregon is Baylor wins the Big 12. Remember Oregon's loss was a big one to then-unranked Arizona.

It is worth a try. Maybe I will understand it.

seems like youre arguing both sides anyway. you question what i was saying yet you post something about if oregon "almost" loses.

i wish you would just admit youve been trolling everyone for years.

I think Oregon's loss is more significant than Texas Christian's loss because of the opponents and point differentials. Similarly, I do not think Florida State's wins are impressive because of the opponents and point differentials. There is no contradiction. My argument about who SEC teams would beat is based on the belief that conference is overrated, which is not a contradictory statement. So how am I trolling here?

Lol I was going to say the same thing.  If I were an Oregon fan I would lose my mind if I were kicked out of the top 4 after not losing a game the rest of the season.  They have been impressive.

The fans of all four teams ranked higher than TCU would lose their minds about being kicked out. But how many people who don't care about any of them would agree all four teams deserve it and TCU does not? Is the only reason not to put a Big 12 team in the playoffs the fact that they did not dominate the conference last year? If so, you can't reject TCU because this is their first season in the Big 12. Now I am not saying TCU should be in the playoffs instead of Oregon. I just think if TCU wins the Big 12 title, nobody should say the Frogs do not deserve to get in just because a higher-ranked team won. Rather it means a team that deserved to get in was left out because the playoffs can only have four teams.

I can't see any team in college football that would want to play Arkansas right now. They're a high energy team. The running game is very strong. Efficient QB. And the defense is scary with the non stop effort.

Right? That's a scary five loss team.

Not sure if you are purposely or inadvertantly showing your ignorance.
