Coughlin is livid after losing to the Jags in his post-game interview
|
Quote:It makes sense he would say that. We suck pretty bad. We were down 21-0, and the offense scored 1TD. Couglin knows it wasn't Fisch who did them in, that's for sure, lol. The Defense scored more points than the offense if you give Marks his TD back... robbed. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
LOL, Tom made it really fun to watch. He is not going to be coaching there next year. He looked like a tired old man. I like Tom but wow....
Go Jaguars!!!

Lol.
Well,, losing to the Jaguars due to 2 fumble recovery for TDs,,, Yeah,, that's bad.
The Giants will draft Winston in the second round. He should fit in with all the crime up there.

Coughlin made it pretty clear that he didn't think the Jags 'won' the game so much as that the giants 'gave the game away'. I understand what Tom C is getting at...after all, our offense really didn't put up many points; however, our defense did shut down the giants offense plus score two touchdowns on forced fumbles. I respect Tom Coughlin as a coach, but I have to say he's only partly correct with his statement.
Having a big lead and then losing the game really hurts; we would know...
I y'ams who I y'ams and thats all I y'ams...

I felt sorry for Tom in that press conference. He has been to the pinnacle of the sport twice and now his job is on the line as though over the winter he became ignorant. He's a good coach, but when his players don't secure the ball to cost them a win inevitably it's the coach who takes the heat.

Considering that Coughlin has won two superbowls in ten years with that team he should never be fired. Ever. They should let him choose when he doesn't want to deal with the players and media anymore. He earned that much.
And considering he took a bunch of rookies and other team's castoffs here, to the Conference Championship game in their second year is proof he can coach.

His NY performance is making me eat my words and feel bad about his dismissal.

He can definitely coach. A lot of teams that sign QBs to huge contracts are having trouble balancing out the rest of their team (Big Ben, Flacco, E. Manning). Eli is $19m against the cap this year and $20m against the cap next year. Teams can get away with it for a while as they defer the hit to the later years but it ultimately catches up with you. Tom Brady is only hitting their cap for $13m this year. Payton is $21m but the Broncos are pushing out the other salaries to future years.
Sometimes, an era ends. I think Coughlin will be there next year, but only next year... After that he will retire.
The Giants will soon find out that Coughlin is hard to replace. Watch them be like the Jets for the foreseeable future.
