I was, how could you disagree?  In the majority of games this season, the game was virtually out of hand by halftime or in the 3rd quarter.

 

At Washington it was 21-7 at the half

Against the Colts 30-nil at the half

At San Diego 27-14 in the 3Q

Against Miami was 10-3 at the half and 24-6 in the 3Q

At Cinci was 19-9 in the 3Q

Against Dallas was 24-7 at the half

At Indy was 20-3 in the 3Q

 

2-10 isn't pretty...

My words indicate it is my opinion.  I also said game plan "much" as in I doubt teams game plan for us like they would for the Pats, Broncs, etc.  Let's be honest, teams can probably run their basic schemes to beat us.  I doubt they have to game plan in wrinkles.

I don't believe that's the case. Teams always take their opponent seriously no matter what their record is. The coaches aren't just going to let players skip meetings because it's "Jaguars week."

I don't recall saying skip meetings anywhere.  If you want to believe that teams game plan to the same level for the Jags than they do the best teams in the NFL then have at it.

I think you guys are foolish to think that men who get paid millions of dollars in a results-oriented business would be so stupid as to overlook an  "easy" opponent in the NFL. 

 

Is it harder to game-plan for the Packers?  Hell yes.  Do they phone it in for the Jaguars?  No. Does he feel confident? Of course he does.  Will he do his due diligence?  If he's not a complete heel he will. 

Especially when your predecessor just got swept by this team and consequently fired.

NYC, you seem like a fairly astute guy, so I'll assume that I wasn't clear in my point.

 

I don't expect that he's "overlooking" the Jaguars, I just expect that he likely believes a simple and straightforward game plan is enough to beat the Jaguars. I also believe he fully expects his team to win regardless of almost anything that could happen, because he's likely looking at how the Giants took the lead then proceeded to lose the game and understanding clearly how he can keep such a thing from happening to the texans.

 

And I believe everything any coach ever says is coach speak. Nothing these guys say is anything but the same thing you'll hear every week, and I feel quite sure that his appraisal of the Jaguars as the team currently is wouldn't be nearly as glowing as he professes when put behind a microphone.

Your explanation is appreciated - but the bolded areas seem in contradiction to one another. So - if I mistook your meaning, that is why. 

 

We see it a little differently, but not worlds apart.  I think that coaches are capable of shooting from the hip as well as speaking plainly at times. I actually think it's becoming a little bit more common among a few of the younger coaches.  Still - much of what crosses their lips when a microphone is present is at the very least glossed over and sometimes pure "coach-speak."  I just find it odd that a grown man would say "this isn't coach speak" and then lie through his teeth.  Why bother with the disclaimer in the first place?
