Marcus Mariota Vs Teddy Bridgewater

Quote:I would probably just stop being a Jaguars fan if that happened. Fortunately there is no chance in hell of that happening. No matter how many converted Tebow kids want Manziel.
If you stop being a fan of a team just cuz they draft a player you dont like, then you were never a fan of the team. There many players this team drafted over the years that I was against but I never would even say anything as dumb as I will stop being a fan if they drafted the guy, get off your high horse with that stuff.

If he didn't stop being a fan after the team drafted Gabbert who was a notoriously flawed prospect, I don't think Manziel will change that.

Honestly haven't watched Oregon this season, but I do plan on watching their next couple games. Get the impression that Teddy is more polished with a higher floor while Mariota has a comparable ceiling. Not sure if Mariota is as physically gifted as Kaepernick, but that seems to be what all the comparisons are to. I wouldn't be opposed to trading down to Clowney and trading up to Mariota. I can't remember the last time this team had any freakish athletes. If Mariota is predicted a top 5 pick though, this is highly unlikely. Kaep was taken in the 2nd :o

With all the emphasis on scheme, I am still not sure what Caldwell and Bradley envision our offense to be. We have seen some read-option from Ghenne this season and I'm not sure Rodgers/Scott athletic abilities were a coincidence. If Bradwell want to use an option offense then the choice is obvious. If they don't then the choice is obvious. With the right scheme, either QB would be great, but what scheme does Bradwell want?

Right now its all about Teddy Bridgewater, I just see him being the better pro but I wouldn't be upset if the Jags ended up with Mariota.

The Bucs sure did look bad last night.... They could get the #1 pick too because their schedule and division is tougher.

Without a doubt.

Quote:Unless we're getting Harbaugh/ Belichick/ Chip Kelly or another of Oregon's disciples to run a similar offense here/ help develop the QB.....then, no, Mariota won't be a very good consolation prize.

I'm just curious:

If the Jags end up with Mariota instead of Bridgewater (I don't want that to happen BTW), will some of you guys support Mariota and hope he turns out great?

Or,, will you be so upset that you end up rooting for Mariota to fail, so you can seriously criticize the GM and tell everyone how you guys were right?

Will you hope you were wrong?

I hope we get Bridgewater, but I'll be happy if we get Mariota because Teddy is already gone. What if Jags have first pick and take Mariota instead? Will you support?

They have the Bills and Rams left. Hopefully they can get both. No doubt they are sticking with Glennon. Hopefully him being thrown in the fire will have him get better near season's end to accomplish this.

Glennon actually looks pretty good. He is making some good throws under pressure.

Is that a serious question? No one on here would be rooting for Mariota to fail because that just means another 5 years of losing and then having to look for a franchise QB.

We stink this year... everyone knows it... we aren't going anywhere til we get the franchise QB and i don't care who it is. Bridgewater, Mariota, Boyd or Hundley i don't care as long as they're good.

I know almost everyone will. There will be those bizarre chest-thumping agenda drivers that won't. But who cares about them anyway?

He started out pretty promising, but got worse as the game went along and was Henneesque during Garbage time.

I just hope he gets better and better as the year goes on. If that regime could just possibly look at him as the next big thing to them, then maybe they take Clowney at #1 and we get Bridgewater.

As stated I'll be perfectly fine if we get Mariota though.

The notion that he won't do any good without Chip Kelly is ridiculous. This man looks good and dual threat QB's are the way of the future.

Looks like we have many more months of TMD saying how he's going to be garbage for us since CK isn't the coach.

A pretty good analysis of Bridgewater, inconsistency seems to be his biggest issue. A small issue in the grand scheme if coached up properly.

But as far as draft positioning goes, our QB is Henne-esque from start to finish and the other one is all-time bad. I fully expect the Bucs to fire Schiano and then win a few games. Kinda like how the Jags rallied around Mel Tucker in 2011.

Inconsitency is an issue for every quarterback ever. Otherwise they would be the all time greatest football player.
