2015 looks to be the perfect year for the Jaguars to draft a running back
|
2015 looks to be a really strong year for running backs.
As of now, CBS Sports has 11 backs with third round grades or better. It should be a great time for the team to improve this position in the second night of the draft. Denard Robinson has shown to be a capable back in this league. But he has not shown he is capable of getting those tough yards, nor was he expected to do so. So I think they will look to add a back with size. Below are the current rankings according to CBS. Almost all are underclassmen, so this can change.

Davis and Cobb would both be great values on day 3 from what I have seen. I definitely agree that this will be a great year to pick one and Dennard's emergence will allow us to wait for players to fall in the draft.
I agree that it might make sense to draft a running back, with the class potentially a very good one this year. (Just as we loaded up on wide receivers in this years draft) But maybe look for someone who compliments DRob, rather than taking someone with a similar style ? Cobb or Yeldon ?
I like Ajayi in the mid rounds. Pretty good workhorse that I believe has been relatively injury free. Can catch out of the backfield. If we take a back in the 5th or later, that's my choice

I'd still like Gurley.. Wouldn't mind Duke either.. Priorities first though..
Yea we need to draft a RB by round 4th

Quote:How do you figure? You want to go into next year with Gerhart, Denard and Storm? Compared to all the other holes on this team? Yes, that group is fine with me. Add one in the later rounds if need be. Quote:If a runningback is high on this teams board we need another GM. That is the least of this teams worries. There are teams drafting RBs every year that dont even need RBs, but yet we have needed one and we passed on them, if a RB is the BAP you draft him its a need too

Find one in the later rounds, UDFA, or cheap in free agency. I would never spend premium assets on one in today's game. Just not worth it.

I totally agree with you; however,if there is a Lesean McCoy caliber player in the second or third round looking us then we need to take him. We show less advertisements to registered users. One that can play all three downs and also be a legit receiver in the passing game are the ones I could live with drafting earlier. But are there any of them in this draft? Haven't studied too closely yet.

He was never this elusive in college, props to him. Gio would have been the type that fits my criteria, but he isn't looking so hot this year. Bengals used back to back 2nd rounders on backs? No bueno. Obviously you can find good backs in early rounds that aren't the first. But is it worth it? They just don't have the same impact as they did in the past. I doubt anybody will agree with me, but I put the running back position just ahead of punter/kicker in terms of importance. |
