Cyprien a bust?

Quote:Cyp's Ph.D in Geometry should be revoked because of his failure at figuring out angles.

Seriously, I started really noticing his issues a bit later than most here. I only started hearing small warning signals after the Cowboy game. Now there are red flags the size of by TV being waved all over my house...

To say that Cyp's play has fallen off and is concerning would be an understantement.

The fact that our 2013 draft class looks terrible is very concerning.

Quote:Nope that's not it
You think out Linebackers are good in pass defense? I do not. Another secondary safety cheating to help them out is a common problem. Now of course this isn't true on one on one coverage, but short/medium range zone read passes are not being reacted on fast enough.

He made a nice hit in the game but was out of position and getting run over by Jennings on several plays. Just another player on our roster not living up to his draft spot. I honestly thought his rookie year was more promising. At least he was causing fumbles.

No pain, no gain.

You people are clueless. Cyprien is fine. He's just trying to do to much. He will settle down as he gets more experience, like most safeties. He's not supposed to be Earl Thomas.

After 1 year you say they look terrible. Get it through your head, learning to play in the NFL takes time.

Quote:We are closing in on year 2 and I haven't seen a lick of progress from this guy.  A good SS does 2 things.  The first thing is they come down and thump the rb or second they make wr's fear going across the middle.  This guy does neither.

1. He is horrible against the run.  Bad angles, poor technique, bad reads, etc.  I think he has made 1 impressive tackle all  year.  His signature move is grasping at air or ankles while a runner laughs at him eating their dust.

2. He is terrible in the passing game.   All season long he has blown coverages and allowed us to get beat for long gains.  He was soley responsible for the backbreaking TD last week.  To be blunt he flat out sucks

I know some people will come on here and scream it's only his second year.  While true you normally see flashes of a young player developing into something great.  I haven't seen anything from Cyprien.  In my eyes he is a bust and time to move on.  Who knows, maybe a season or two on the bench could do him some good.  His mental game has the IQ of a rock.

1. He also gets run over or bounces off of people and that's when he constantly shows up late to the play

2. He always looks out of place

Caldwell does need to have a replacement plan for Cyp at this point.

I like Cyprien, but saying "just trying to do too much" is just wrong.  Just trying to do to much doesn't explain bad pursuit angles, and getting ran slap over by Rashad Jennings.

I will give him this though, the guy plays his [BLEEP] off.  There is no denying that.  I still have hope and am still rooting for him, but he is struggling right now.

get it through YOUR head.  They don't look good.  They haven't improved significantly from year 1 to year 2.  They may or may not get better next year.

Can you get that through your thick skull?

Still have hope for Cyp to get better.  But to say he's only had one year is a bit disingenuous.  He's 4 games away from having been a pro for 2 years...

He's gotta start making some significant improvements.  Ability to track down receivers and RBs in his pursuit is lacking, to be on the nice side.

Very few are calling Cyprien a bust, but he's just gotta really buckle down and get better.  Here's hoping he can do that.

On the big foster runs (At least 3 of them)... Cyprien goes to the wrong gap and allows the big play. He also can't make the stop on 4th down, come on man.

He flat out sucks.

The long run by Foster was hilarious today.  Cyprien runs right into a blocker with a horrible angle then Evans gets punk slapped down to the ground.  Sums up our secondary play all year.

Time to replace Evans and Cyprien.  Cyp looks the part but plays like reggie nelson did here in Jacksonville.

I think there were 3 large runs that Foster had where Professor Cyprien ran straight down to the D-Line at a horrible angle, and Foster blew right by him without being touched.
