2014 College Football Playoff Pairups!

Quote:I'm a Ohio State self proclaimed HATER, however, they totally impressed me with that win over WISC and also the win over MSU last month.  I'm almost inclined to think the Big 10 fixed the game but there's too much at stake for WISC to buy into a fix --- 59-0 is just plain out crazy !!!

I'll be rooting for OSU and FSU in round 1.  I can honestly say even if both lose, they each had successful seasons.

How could the BTCG be fixed? Plain and simple, Ohio State is one of the four best teams in the country. It will be interesting to see how Alabama responds to the shellshock Wisconsin got.

Quote: Yeah, finally, after playing 29 scrubs in a row, a real team to play for FSU.

You don't realize how hard it is to play 29 scrubs in a row.

It ain't easy.

Since when has Auburn been a scrub?

What was your point then?

His point was: a big name school would NOT have been bumped out of the top 4 with a win, especially a convincing win.

TCU is not considered a big name school.

That is exactly what I thought. But I can't agree TCU is a small name school when it is ranked in the top five and talked about every week.

If they hadn't bumped TCU over undefeated FSU last week, this would not be considered a controversy. Lesson learned for the committee. Don't drop undefeated teams. Ohio State's win was dominant and they deserved to be ranked over TCU regardless of how badly TCU beat a team with no conference wins.

Yep -- the committee was trying to set up the east matchup (1Bama vs 4FSU) and the west matchp (2Oregon vs 3TCU) and it backfired.   As V said, if TCU was #4 last week, the OSU jump would have been more justified after their dominant win.

That team with no conference wins has a win on the road vs a Big 10 team lulz.

The Big 10 is horribly bad again this year. Their CCG participants were beaten by the 10th place ACC team and the 6th ranked SEC team. But of course the Big 10 is so bad they could walk right through it. Isn't Wisconsin the team thats QB situation is so bad a dude who played safety last year started the season for them this year? Yikes. 59-0 is 59-0 but Wisconsin has hardly been impressive all season. Ranked so high because they're good enough to beat the rest of the cupcakes in that conference.

I don't think the Big 12 is some great conference, but they're certainly better than the Big 10. They were shafted because TCU and Baylor don't have the following Ohio St has. Or the committee got caught up in the moment and forgot Ohio St took 55 min to pull away from Michigan just last week.

I agree the OSU name carried some weight and definitely creates national attention. That said, I hate OSU but I'm very interested to see that matchup and find myself pulling for OSU (it helps that I despise Bama --ha !!).

The Big 12 hurt themselves when OK State beat Oklahoma and their marquee team Texas, went into the tank this season.

Ohio States schedule was not challenging but they did manhandle Michigan State and Wisconsin with the backup and backup backup QBs respectively.

The problem with that statement is last week TCU was ranked higher than OSU. If the school's name carried any weight, TCU would not have a chance.

The schools name carries weight IF there is enough data to justify a choice.  Last week, OSU didn't have the resume to justify a conversation between them and TCU.  The 59-0 win now got OSU into the serious debate and the committee made a decision in the best interest of the national public.

I'm happy with it.  I couldn't name 2 players from TCU or Baylor.

I can name one: Bryce Petty. And I only know about him because he talked about Tony Romo's back injury before the London game.

It will be fun to root for the Ducks while waiting for the more important game.

How is it more important? Because you root for them?

Ohio State is going to lose much worse than either FSU or Oregon.

Since 1995 Ohio St. is 1-7 vs. the SEC in bowl games and the one win was forfeited. I don't have a lot of confidence in them beating Alabama.
