The final days of Bradley in Jacksonville

Quote:Gabbert failed because he sucked. Coaching changes had nothing to do with it.

The problem is the team is not progressing. Nobody expected them to be good. Most did not expect them to be this bad.

I mean, for me, it's not even that we are this bad...  It's that we are as bad now as we were when we started this season.  We have not even decreased the level of badness with which we play.

That is the thing that bugs me the most.

I think that was a realistic expectation.

My point was this is not going to be a desirable situation for an OC to come into.
a job in the NFL not a desirable situation?

We have some pretty nice young WRs and a young QB with talent and upside also M.Lewis, I think a OC would love to come here, this is not Blaine Gabbert and those terrible WRs we had in the past

Bortles is playing better than Henne but not much else has changed.

No no, you're right.  BB5 is better than Henne...  I means from when BB5 became the starter.  That to me is the beginning of when I really began to think that we can begin to evaluate the offense.

That's why you have to open up the checkbook and write someone an offer they can't refuse.

If Bradley keeps his job, he is going to be on one of the hottest seats in the league going into the year.

The next OC better rent.

I want Roman to replace Bradley not work for the trash.

I don't think there's such a thing as an undesirable situation in the NFL.  There are only 32 head coaching opportunities and most of these guys have huge egos to begin with. They'll jump on the first chance, even in a small market like Jacksonville.  I may be wrong, but I think most of them would want the opportunity to show that they can win in this league.

Gus isn't going anywhere unless the losing continues well into next season.

Quote:YOU might say that, others may not share your opinion...again the top 3 says they see progress and thats all that matters

You need to apply for Gus's job or maybe even Caldwells since you can explain everything so well...All Caldwell and Gus have done their entire life is work Football...I'll trust their analysis over yours, nothing personal of course
You can trust who you want - the fact remains that this team is 2-11, has been a record 1-9 for three consecutive years, and is about to break the NFL record for most games in a row where they are the underdog.

We are historically bad and rank at the bottom of the league in almost every statistical category.

Yep, best to trust the "experts" because they know best.

Personally, I'm tired of the losing and I hope it ends soon.  Khan has to see this.  I just hope he has the fortitude to make whatever changes need to be made.  Our recent performance on the field has been pitiful.  Every week, I think it can't get any worse and they just keep on surprising me.

I just saw in another thread undeniable statistical evidence that this team is improving, and we will have a positive point differential by 2039 so Gus should have a job until then.

Most posters agree we're stuck with Bradley for better or worse.

What odds would you give that the team does well enough that Gus
is retained into 2016? Right now I agree with Anchorman that the team has not improved over the course of this season. That leads me to believe that it will not improve significantly next season.

The argument is that changing coaches would set the development of the young players back, and Bortles in particular. But is another season of the same poor player development we've seen from the current staff a better choice?

We have the worst point differential in the league... Worse than the Raiders and Jets.

Would it really set him back though? Is Bortles really going to be that much better or worse if we replace a coach this offseason rather than the following? If he was going to be such an all-star quarterback, why should a regime change completely impact his play? Are we assuming that even Gabbert would have been a good quarterback if we had stuck with JDR for three more seasons? I am not buying it.

There are so many Ifs, And's, and Buts, to the Gene Smith regime, that any alternate scenario is possible. Even an improved Gabbert with JDR still as HC.

If The Jags keep Gus, we really need good veteran players here next year. Their experience on the field may offset the inexperience on the sidelines.

Bingo, there are only 4 situation of guys looking to become OC

1. HC who got fired

2 Position coach who is looking to move up the ranks

3. college coach trying to come into the NFL

4. Coach who was out of football acting as a media member

none of those will turn there nose up at a OC job, even if they are a golden boy they will still go to the highest bidder no matter how bad the situation is
