The final days of Bradley in Jacksonville

If you are using W-L as the primary gauge of progress then I can't help you. I am not saying its perfect but go look at FO 2013 vs 2014. -38.2 last year, -29.9 this year. That at least attempts to remove some of the random variance and small sample size issues that you get looking at W-L.

This isn't like filling up a bucket of water where it starts empty and water steadily rises to the top in a nice even fashion. You may not see any improvement in record, points, etc for a while but then it may come all at once.

I'm certainly far from sold on Gus but he needs another year.

Again, people can't seem to accept, or merely do not want to come to terms with the uncomfortable reality; that this is a 4-5 year rebuilding plan. Both Gus and Caldwell knew that this wouldn't be a playoff season, which is why they initially wanted to sit Bortles and allow him to gain more experience. Henne played atrociously, Bradley and Caldwell were both forced to make a decision on Bortles, and now he leads all NFL QB's with interceptions and has been sacked 38 times.... Let that last figure sink in a bit. He also is struggling with shoulder and ankle injuries.

Bradley and Caldwell obviously possess more wisdom, than any of their detractors on this MB.

Didn't a lot of posters say " I'll trust Gene Smith and his wisdom over any of his detractors on this MB...."

Sometimes the front office is wrong. Not saying they are in this case but taking what they say blindly is... Well just being blind.

Would the Jags be better if we just turned those graphs upsidedown?

Another way to say this is "We should trust politicians.  They are obviously well-educated and more intelligent than us average folks."

Look at where that has gotten us.

Ownership should be aware that this teams rebuilding process is a 3-4 year project

On top of the prior 3-4 years that we were terrible before that.

Probably won't be any better than 4-12 next year either. At least then we can get all the "This is a 3 year project!" idiots to stop barking about it.

Yes - but that would imply some sort of "improvement" along the way, correct?

Think about that for a moment, they believed Chad Henne would be suitable enough to get through a season and be respectable. That ALONE makes me question everything.

Bradley will be back.  There's no good replacement for him that's going to be available.  The last thing they need is another Mularkey stop gap coach.

I've been going back and forth about Bradley.  I still think he stays in Jacksonville for his final contract year.  I wouldn't be surprised to see some shake up on the staff.  Fisch, Babich and whoever the ST coach is should all be on notice.  There are going to be some guys fired this year from other teams that would be upgrades to what we have now (*cough, Roman ,*cough) :whistling:

Because David and Khan didn't discuss the rebuild during the interview? That obviously couldn't have happened. No way--not uh. That would just make too much sense.

No, I think the obvious elephant in the room in this discussion is what Khan wants in regards to the process. Because that's exactly what it is-- a process. I have to believe David sold him on that idea. Khan is not stupid; he knows they have had had a terrible team. I'm sure it didn't take much convincing to establish the concept of a complete gutting/rebuild. I'm positive that Khan would have asked the question: how long? How could he not have? He is not stupid; he didn't get where he has got being stupid. All indications point to a three year rebuild, which will be confirmed by big moves in the FA this offseason. Sooo....the owner of this team is complicit to this a three year process. Viewed in this light, Cheerleader Gus hire now completely makes sense --he's someone to keep it positive and light when things looked darkest.

A) Who said it's a 3 year re-build

B) What can we expect in terms of Ws and Ls after year 3

Try this out

First year:

Hire GM

Hire coach (defensive minded)

Build through draft defense (sure up what you know)

Add Defesive Free Agents (some work out some dont)

Suffer losing record with young defense learning

Offense just there to maintain.

Second Year:

Build Though draft Offense (Franchise QB young recievers)

Add offensive FA (some workout  some dont)

Defense is in second year is improved and NFL Quality can take over a game at times still needs work

Offense is young and learning but improving with each game

Third Year:

Build through verteran FA for holes in Offense and Defense

Fire OC bring in NFL Experinced OC to build the young Offense

Fill holes in draft

Defense is Dominant

Offense in new system with Good OC very competent

Battle for Divison

Fourth Year:

Continue filling holes

Defense top 5

Offense becoming Dominant

Winnign Divison Playoffs

Fith Year:

Championship!

You're right, they shoulda just gotten Aaron Rodgers. What were they thinking?

C'mon, what QBs were out there as free agents that were substantially better than Henne?
