Not sure where the thread is for this, but did they deserve to be in the top 4? Dunno how Ohio State jumped TCU/Baylor *shrug*

I think it has more to do with the "co champ" thing, but it's also probably a money thing. Ohio State has a huge following and the game is just bigger with them playing rather than TCU.
I still can't believe the Bobcats got in.

Quote:I was surprised they blew out/shut out Wisconsin with Cardale Jones running the show. It was a really impressive win. I think everybody was shocked except the Buckeyes. However Cardale Jones played in garbage time during blowouts, so unlike J.T. Barrett, he was ready for the bigger role. I was worried about him before kickoff, but thought Melvin Gordon would be a bigger problem. Obviously the playoff committee was impressed by Ohio State's ability to limit Gordon under 100 yards, keep him out of the end zone, and make him fumble - then score on the play. Then the fact that a third string quarterback completed all but five passes for 247 yards and 3 touchdowns and did not throw any interceptions in his first career start can make one think he was benefiting from the rest of Ohio State's offense. So you can't say it was just one guy on defense (although Joey Bosa had a great game) and one guy on offense domninating Wisconsin. I think it is obvious why Ohio State's win was more impressive than Texas Christian's win: their opponents. Iowa State has no conference wins this year and does not have the Big 12's best offensive player. No one was surprised the final score was 55-3 because everyone expected a blowout win. TCU would have to play in a conference championship game to impress the playoff committee with that score. As for Baylor, their ranking was #6, so they would have had to leapfrog Ohio State to get in. How could the Bears do that without scoring 70 points? Quote:I'm sure TCU fans are furious. Of course they are. They know their only loss was at Baylor, not home against Virginia Tech. I bet the Horned Frogs and their fans feel like they were robbed. However, if there was only one Big 12 champ, it would have been Baylor. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! There's no good defense of OSU being in there.
It's my theory that there are forces at work (big money, that is) that are doing everything they can to get to an 8 team playoff sooner than later. Getting the fourth team wrong in the first year of the four team playoff is simply the first step.

Quote:There's no good defense of OSU being in there. Getting the fourth team wrong is impossible to determine after the fact because anybody would get killed by Alabama.
Quote:You're full of crap. You're headed to my ignore list if you don't stop it. Quote:Getting the fourth team wrong is impossible to determine after the fact because anybody would get killed by Alabama. The fact you realize OSU gives no one any competition reinforces the reason they shouldn't be there. They simply don't measure up to their "peers" in the playoffs. There are arguments for others to the contrary. They only seem to have been put there to feed the need/push for an 8 team playoff.

Quote:The fact you realize OSU gives no one any competition reinforces the reason they shouldn't be there. My point was if TCU got in and was steamrolled by Alabama, it would be wrong to say the Horned Frogs should not be #4 because they were blown out. The same is true for Ohio State. No matter who is #4 they're going to have a hard time against Alabama, so people should not go by the Sugar Bowl box scores to argue OSU was the wrong team. Maybe TCU is better than OSU. Without putting them on the same field we're never going to know.
I go back and forth with Cardale Jones being the starter. He obviously has talent. And with so little film on him, Bama wont know what his weaknesses are. Could play in Ohio St's favor. But on the otherhand, he is so young and inexperienced. And if Ohio St gets in a tough game, or falls behind, no one knows how he will respond.
It's easy to play well when you are winning and your defense is completely dominating the opponent. ________________________________________________ Scouting well is all that matters. Draft philosophy is all fluff. Quote:There's no good defense of OSU being in there. Cool. I love a good conspiracy theory. I think it was the Mafia, with help from the CIA. Wait, sorry, wrong conspiracy.
