All Jdub is really, is just an alternate way to say JW while shortening the letter W to dub, although they are using more letters to shorten the W.

 

We really don't see what the big deal is and why you could possibly hate it so much.

 

Would you prefer your JW nickname be Jdubbullu instead of Jdub? Or even Jdoubleyou? That would look like there was 2 of you.

I know that is where it came from. That is obvious. The effect of "shortening" the W phonetically is really taking the letter away. Anything that avoids actually typing the letter W is removing it. If people don't want to type the W, they can call me my real name. Andrea does not have that letter.

Forgive me for being a little bit pop-psychology here, the problem is that accepting nicknames given is a common prerequisite for acceptance into the group. You can't pick your own nickname and by rejecting the nickname given that's what you're trying to do.

 

People are often nice and sensitive but only when you stay within what they consider acceptable behavior. Rejecting a non-vulgar nickname is not considered acceptable in most groups. And trying to causes the reaction that you're seeing; insistent use of the nickname.

 

The fact that Jdub is not a vulgar nickname does not mean I have to like it. I only want to give people a chance to make up another nickname, not create my own. Apparently other people don't see my request the same way I do.
