The point being (seeing how you evidentially need the help) ... Show me 1 GM that has not made mistakes.  Richardson was a mistake, it happens to every GM.

Even Caldwell.

Sure, every GM does make mistakes.

Some mistakes are based on misprojection, and some would best be described as "put down the crack pipe".

The bad first round picks that have plagued the Jaguars (as an example) could be characterized as misprojection - the Jaguars hadn't yet seen how bad those players are in the NFL.

Giving up a first rounder for a guy that couldn't hit 1k yards behind one of the best o-lines in the NFL, had a less than 4YPC average, and had fumbling problems falls into that "put down the crack pipe" territory.

Still waiting for coltsmoron to go ahead and give me all of his money since the circumstances of what the money is going to aren't important and all that matters is that the money goes somewhere.

You don't see too many blockbuster trades these days.  Grigson got schooled ... probably learned a very valuable lesson. He has picked up some pretty solid players as well. It's a bottom line business, and he isn't in the bottom .... yet.

Hey lastonealive, was Darrell Freeman "that other linebacker?"

Really? Is this what this has come down to?

This forum posting thing isn't as serious as you'd like it to be, I guess.

My opinion that a first round pick = a first round pick?

Alright, then...

Nice try, we're not talking about what a pick is, we're talking about player personnel decisions.

Did the Colts lose a first pick in TRich?

Did the Pats lose a first pick with Maroney?

Keep trying...

Still waiting for you to spend all of your money on sending it to my bitcoin wallet.

You know, since it's the same as spending it on something that might have value.

Keep trying.

First round pick doesn't equal first round pick.

Interesting take you have.

LOL. This is pretty hilarious.

Wow, you're really not smart...  LOL!

Losing a 1st rounder via a draft bust is much different then trading AWAY ON a 1st round pick a RB that was A) A RB!!!! and B)A mediocre at best RB.  I mean this ain't the 80's where you need a high 1st round pick for a franchise RB...  And Richardson is nowhere near a top 10 RB anyways.

You could have used your 1st round pick on something, instead you threw it away.  It was probably the dumbest move I've seen a GM make in recent history.

Not being able to see this points to some major flaws in your brain's cognitive functioning...  You may wish to go see a specialist...  I'd start with a teacher, like one in middle school...  Then move on from there...

Back to the thread topic...  I saw the comeback he made against Cleveland, you just knew he was gonna bring them back.  That D was gassed after playing lights out against Luck most of the game.  I'm still on the fence with Luck...  But I'm beginning to move closer to having to admit he's gonna be special.  But he does have moments still where you see he's not as elite as Manning or Brady...

Define "Recent History"

You don't remember Gene Smith hiring Mike Mularky to be the Jaguars HC? … Or was that Khan?

LOL, Mularkey was a bad hire and was fired after 1 year.

However, it remains the same that it was a gamble on a coach that may have figure it out after learning from his mistakes during a prior HCing job..  But obviously didn't.

Again, not as dumb as wasting a 1st rounder for a proven weakling of a RB...

How about we call this one a draw?

When the Jaguars hired Mike Mularkey as the Jaguars HC (how much did he fleece them for anyway?), they didn't stay stagnant, they went backwards.

When the Colts gave up a 1st round pick to acquire Richardson, their running game didn't stay stagnant, it went backwards.

We shall compromise that …. One full season = a 1st round pick.

Or

Full Season > 1st round pick

Full Season < 1st round pick

At least Mularkey can claim he put the Jaguars in position to draft Bortles.  Smile

Um, LOL... You do realize that the Patriots spent a 1st round pick on Maroney? That is what we're discussing. Both were terrible decisions. We're not arguing if it was a good move or not (obviously wasn't).

Trading away a 1st round pick for a bust & drafting a bust = the same result. Losing a 1st round pick.

REALLY, not too complicated to understand.

It doesn't get much stupider and defensive than these two posts.

Actually, it appears that it's pretty complicated to you.  The results may be the same, but the actions to get to the result are different.  And the actions make a difference in this situation.

It's not complicated, but you've made it pretty complicated...  Again, it makes one question your reasoning skills.
