Actually if you look at the two QBs game stats it is actually true:

Bridgewater definitely has better pieces around him, but I think the difference between a QB thought to be NFL-ready vs a QB thought of as raw-with a higher ceiling.  Similar to FBT's last point in the post above.

I don't think that play was phantom pressure

I think he saw the Defenses back off and saw the chance to pick up a couple of yards and get close to the first


As he moved up he saw lee

I think that just not seeing a guy and seeing a chance to make something from nothing


The only signs of him buckling were him going fetal at the foot of a defender but considering the beating he took and how quick the defenses was on him I don't blame him for a little self preservation


Add to that overall yes he is improving and with 8 months to work on his footwork I think it will continue

I think Bridgewater is helped a lot by having Norv Turner as his play caller. He looks really comfortable in the offense when I watch Minnesota play in a way that Bortles doesn't. Also his OL is way better and he isn't getting massacred every other drop back.

What I see is this:


BB doesn't drop back from the shotgun at all. He catches the snap and sets his feet, while the o-line is getting pushed back. When he steps up (a half-step only) it's into the traffic, and there's no room so he gets sacked, and sacked, and sacked again.


He need to drop back an extra stride before he sets his feet. Also, despite the o- line caving back towards him, he has had time, but too often holds the ball too long.


As stated above, his accuracy has regressed as he has attempted more diverse kinds of throws.


Imho, having Henne as a mentor, and Fisch's horrendous playcalls has indeed caused regression. He looks worse to me, and he is getting dinged up in the process.


He excels at the 2-minute offense, that is what he should be doing...and doing...and doing, for the next 8 quarters.


Oh, and TMD should be reinstated immediately. Who exactly are the root admins anyway? It's likely they are the ones who should be replaced.

This! Norv Turner is a very good NFL experienced OC who can call and plan a game to his QB strengths. Fisch is not and can not.#Fireficsh

I believe this as well but time will tell.  He's a warrior.  He will get as far as his talent will take him. I don't think you can say that about a lot QBs.

This team was made too young and should of spent more money in free agency, period.  The Jags have been terrible most of the year.  Progress normally means you get better with time.  It has not happened yet.

 

What is alarming is some of the draftees that returned have seem to regress this year.

Khalil and Loadholt make a HUGE difference. Both very underrated but standout bookend tackles. 

Bortles has horrendous fundamentals, footwork issues, I watched a few of his interceptions and his feet are in the wrong direction, his weight is all over the place and his shoulders aren't square or balanced on many throws. He needs a few seasons of fundamental and technical skill work.

 

Bridewater is more polished in his throws and even though Bridgewater doesn't have the arm strength that Bortles does, he can make up for it, and that's why those fundamental skills matter so much.
