Lowest Mathematical Draft Slot for Jags in 2015 (post-elimination)

#41

Quote:That would make us #2 because if we lose on Thursday, the Titans will have a better record and pick after us.
They haven't updated since the 9th so I think our SOS has become stronger than all of the other guys and we'd have the #4 pick if the draft were tomorrow.

Tennessee's record became stronger and ours got weaker because the Jets beat the Titans. It also helped that San Diego and Miami lost.

I don't care if it was 6 weeks old... we're still picking 1st.

No we're not. We need the Buccaneers to win out for that to happen.

I think we'll end up picking at six now. Can't see the Bucs, Titans, Raiders, Jets or Redskins winning another game and we'll beat the Titans (even if we are missing Bortles).

Kind of changes people's draft plans (and probably kills all hope of a lucrative trade)

Even the worst teams win 1/8 of their games. Odds of those five teams losing all nine remaining games (assuming Jags beat Titans) is about 30%. (7/8)^9

Certainly possible, but it would be a surprise. Raiders have beaten San Francisco and Kansas City in the last 4 weeks! Jags were within one freak play of the Ravens. Too much parity in the NFL to count on the weaker teams always losing. Anyone who's tried to win an Eliminator Challenge knows that.

If we win on Thursday, we own the tiebreaker with the Jets. If we lose on Thursday, we still own the tiebreaker with the Raiders. If we tie on Thursday, we pick before both the Jets and Redskins but after the Titans.

What do you mean all nine remaining games? Every team has two games left.

Current draft order according to NFL.com:

1. Titans

2. Buccaneers

3. Raiders

4. Jaguars

5. Redskins

6. Jets

I can't imagine that changing the next two weeks.

Will the Jags defeated the QB-less Texans in their house in our final game of the season?

If so then the Jags will select 6th with 4 wins. If not, then the Jags will most likely select 4th with 3 wins.

That is more likely than the Buccaneers, Titans, Redskins, Jets, or Raiders winning their last game.

Oak could beat Buf. at home this weekend and its possible Wash could beat Philly this week or Dallas next week in Wash.  Dallas always chokes the last game of the season. Jets could also beat the Dolphins next week and Bucs at home next week could beat the Saints as NO isnt the same team on the road.  A lot of games up in the air right now.  What makes you think nothing will change?

The Bills are 8-6 overall and officially 3-3 away, blew out the Jets at another team's stadium, and won three of their last five games. How can they lose to a 2-12 team after all that?

The Dolphins are 7-7 overall, 3-3 at home, and 3-2 in the division. They already beat the Jets earlier this season. What is in New York's favor to win at Miami? I can't think of one.

The Cowboys are 10-4 overall, 7-0 away, and 3-2 in the division. Unlike the first meeting, Tony Romo can play the whole game. The choke job last year was played without Romo.

The Buccaneers are winless both at home and in the division, so playing against the Saints in Tampa is actually a bad thing. The Saints have the same record at home and away.

So what reasons do you have to believe any of these four games can be upsets?

The fact that upsets happen all the time in the NFL.  How about that?

The Bucs and Titans don't matter anymore.  It is all but guaranteed they will pick ahead of the Jags and hopefully that's Mariota and Winston off the board.  Oakland and Washington winning a game would certainly help.  The Jets picking up a 4th win would also be nice, guaranteeing the Jags are in front of them.

That would be good news for us because we might beat the Texans.
