Scherff

#1

Well? Our offense continues to be the weakest link. If Mariota goes first and Leonard second that leaves Scherff as the only realistic option for us at three. First couple seasons we added speed to the roster, it's time to add strength (OL, LB, and RB). Sign Devin McCourty in FA

Schreff will be a better G. If we go LT Ronnie Stanley is the guy, best LT in this draft

McCourty will either be resigned or franchised by the Pats... no way he hits the open market

Thanks for acknowledging the truth by countering with no other option. Or are you one of those clowns that think RG3 trades are commonplace?

Quite a leap there bro.

The draft is four months away and you think there are only two options with the third pick.

Cool.

Not realistic. Caldwell may as well turn in his resignation with that selection

I don't see the Pats being able to extend both Revis and McCourty. Hope they extend Revis and we sign McCourty.

Take BAP and trade the backup you would get a lot for either

I'm always wary of Iowa players... especially olineman.  Ferentz does a great job maximizing the ability of his players.

Leonard Williams is the guy.  If he isnt there, I'm more and more intrigued by Shane Ray.  My only hesitation would be his size.  Drafting this high you'd want not only a really productive player, but a guy who physically looks the part.  Which Ray doesnt for a DE.  However maybe he would for a pass rusher LB.  If he blows up the combine and proves his athleticism is off the charts, I dont think we could go wrong with him or Williams.

if that happens i think itll be almost a certainty that we trade down, but i think the spot were in actually lights a fire to do more in FA.

id like that trade down that stigma was talking about where we get 2 of the browns picks. theyre gonna want cooper or a qb. the opportunities should be there.

we can probably get scherff somewhere around the 10-14 range and the guy i think that would make biggest impact to our defense outside of williams is bernardrick mckinney who can probably be nabbed somewhere around 15-20.

getting those 2 guys or something similar would be tremendous outside of adding a FS (rahim moore, mcourty, etc..) and a pass rusher (JPP, Orakpo) in free agency.

to me that would improve the roster the most.

Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."

If we draft I hope it's for LG and sign Bulaga in free agency.

I think the likely scenario is that Joeckel and Stanley would be our tackles, with Joeckel getting preference at LT because of the experience.  Stanley and Schreff both look like good prospects so in the right scenario I can see grabbing one.

The offensive line class appears pretty deep so I would prefer the Jags wait til round 2 and get Clemings or Flowers. It would not be smart to pass on one of the impact defensive linemen (especially Williams) since Joeckel is still young and should improve with the off-season. I'm not even sure Scherff will turn out better than Clemings or Flowers.

My brother-in-law who works marketing with the Titans says they are really high on Mettenberg and he doesn't think they will draft QB. Obviously that means nothing other than speculation of what might be our options if Winston is on the board when we draft and the possibility of us trading with someone who covets a QB in this draft.

I love the kid and his motor in the run game. Haven't seen much on him on pass protection. Seems like he would be a trade down target for us. Honestly lets build around the defense and get veterans on offense.

If we take Stanley, this will be the 2nd LT we have taken in 3 years. That doesn't bode well for Caldwell.

Doesn't bode well if Bortles keeps getting blindsided by untouched passrushers

Iowa has produced great OL over the years.

Robert Gallery notwithstanding, the Hawkeyes have produced quality starters at T Riley Reiff and Bryan Bulaga, G Marshall Yanda for the Ravens, G Eric Steinbach, Mike Devlin in Buffalo, Bob Kratch, and John Alt and Joel Hilgenberg.

Not sure about your anti Iowa bias, esp.  against Iowa OL.

As a general rule, I agree that certain schools tend to produce or not produce at certain positions.  Lots of people don't like that approach.

I just disagree with your anti Iowa bias.

I would be inclined to agree with an anti Indiana bias....or were I evaluating CBs, an anti Penn State bias.

Worst to 1st.  Curse Reversed!
