Jedd Fisch Fired!

Quote:Not saying Fisch is a hall of famer but they people on here who think it was his fault are clueless.  Sad to see the Jags brain trust is reacting to fan pressure to fire a guy.  Fisch did a lot of creative things with one of the least talented offensive rosters in the league the last two years.  Gosh the guy even made D. Robinson look like a decent RB this year.  When Blackmon was in the lineup he exploded.  Look what he did to develop a guy like Allen Hurns.  He does a good job getting the most out of his weapons IMO.  You cant expect an offense filled with rookies to be the Pats or the Packers.

For those who don't think Bortles was improving, look at his turnover numbers after the bye week.  Bortles was improving under Fisch.
And look at all of the other numbers that Bortles had after the bye week. Fewer yards, lower completion percentage, etc.

First part likely wasn't about fan pressure, it was about a performance so glaringly bad the team couldn't pass on the opportunity to upgrade that staff position.

Second part, we've seen three QBs under Fisch, and ALL of them have shown serious regression.

At this point the guy looks to be a career killer.

It wasn't about fan pressure. If it was, Mallory and Babich would have lost their jobs as well, former HCs would have been hired to replace them and Gus would be on life support going into next year.

If it was about fan pressure, then Henne would be cut, Poz would somehow be traded, we would draft all offensive linemen in the draft, and we would draft Winston.

Your right because Jim Harabaugh was able to turn Blaine Gabbert around right?  And Chad Henne was amazing in Miami?

We could have had Mike Holmgren, Bill Walsh and and Chip Kelley here and all three of them wouldn't have been able to do anything with the players on this team the last two years.  And now all these young players who look promising will spend another off-season instead of working on their abilities and fine toning, they will be memorizing new terminology and plays.

Actually they will (should) be working on their abilities in the off-season and come April they will learn the new plays.

Right right, we'll put you down for cold comfort, I'll take change.

Changes isn't always good.  Remember how good "change" was for us in 2003 when we fired the most talented person this organization ever had.  He has gone on to win 2 super bowls and we havn't even won a division.

Yes, we already know that you have Fisch pegged as a future Superbowl winning Hall of Fame coach that lead the Jaguars to multiple AFC championship games.

I don't know that I agree with that. Blaine looked like he regressed, but there's no telling if that's just Blaine being...well, Blaine. I mean, Henne got to 3200 yards despite only playing what? 13-14 games?

I don't, but I certainly didn't see enough to judge him.  Do you judge how good a chef is when you give him nothing but rotten food to cook with?

1. This wasn't a reaction to fan pressure. From reading between the lines, my best guess is that Gus is opening up a job for his buddy Trestman, and that Fisch would still be here if Trestman was still coach of the Bears.

2. Maybe Fisch gets some credit for DRob, although healing from an injury was a big factor in DRob's improvement this year compared to last. He didn't develop the WRs, that was Sullivan, and the routes were nothing special. He nearly got Hurns killed multiple times running him over the middle.

But to see the real problem with Fisch, look at the Indy game. He totally abandoned downfield passing after one interception.

Blaine went from being a guy that looked like he was held together by tape and bubblegum to completely falling apart.

Henne went from being a guy that looked like Gabbert on his good days to looking like Gabbert in general.

Bortles went from looking like an aggressive gun slinger with no fear to looking like Henne.

Well I definitely agree that Bortles looked like he went gunshy. I posted his stats on another thread: 6.96 YPA the first 8 games (before the bye) and then he comes back ultraconversative (I don't remember, but it was really low either just below or above 5 YPA) the last 6 games.

But my point is, when Henne stepped in last year, it was night and day offensively. Henne actually took shots downfield last season. So I don't know that I necessarily blame Jedd.

As for Blaine, I was very shocked to watch just how terrible he was last season. But I caught a few of his preseason games as a 49er and he looks like the same guy we saw last season. I think Blaine is just broken at this point.

If it were just Gabbert then it would just be dismissed.

Unfortunately it's not just Gabbert.

Gabbert went from a guy that could manage a game and not throw too many INTs to a guy that just imploded under Fisch.

Henne went from a guy that would just chuck the ball around to completely enfeebled after Hurns' big first quarter of the season.

Bortles obviously regressed under Fisch as it seems Fisch was emphasizing all of the wrong things.

I wanted Peyton Manning's rookie season out of Bortles, with a damn the INTs, be aggressive mindset, not Gabbert's rookie season.

Of course, Bradley had no responsible in the poor offensive play.  He was only the head coach, so no blame for him.

Quote:The Falcons have one of the worst offensive lines in football, primarily due to injuries. They don't pass protect and can't run the ball, Matt Ryan also through a really bad pick-6 in that game, that has nothing to do with DK.
by that logic we shoulda kept fishy poo

No no no Gabbert went from averaging 100 yds and less than a td per game and little ints too 130 yds/game and a ton of ints.... The only difference between rookie blaine and 2013 blaine was less checkdowns, ps he had 13+ fumbles his rookie year they are just as bad as ints..

Yeah but there's no telling that Gabbert wouldn't have imploded regardless of who the OC was. He doesn't seem to have Blake's mental make-up anyway, and he's been dealt a bad card with all the stuff happening around him.

Henne was captain checkdown even in his days in Miami. That was the knock on him, so him holding the ball (it actually became a knock on him that he held the ball too long and got sacked too much) last season to look downfield perhaps is an abberation.

And yes, I am disappointed in Blake turning into checkdown mode. I didn't mind the INTs, despite how frustrating they were. I wanted him to continue pushing his limits and learn from them in the off-season, not go into full on turtle-mode like he did.
