The SEC ruined my bowl pools
|
I let you guys convince me that the SEC would dominate their bowls. I was told that bottom tier SEC teams would compete (even beat, by some) with top tier teams in other conferences (Big Ten). If that were true, which I let you all convince me, then Alabama should have rocked Ohio St. And their 3rd string QB and Auburn should have dogwalked Wisconsin.
I still think the SEC is the best conference in the country, but can we drop the walks-on-water stuff? I was called out for my statement that: Top of SEC > top of BIG > mid of SEC > mid of BIG > bottom of SEC > bottom of BIG. (Each tier is capable of playing/competing with the tier above) The above was trashed when I presented it earlier. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Quote:That's why you shouldn't listen to SEC fans. Hope he didn't bet on FSU either.
What in the Wide Wide World of Sports is agoin' on here???
Quote:Hope he didn't bet on FSU either. They were dogs heading into that game. Unless you were just feeling casual with your money (or just a homer FSU fan, which I doubt someone with a username "Hailtoyourvictor" would be), I highly doubt that he bet on FSU to win.
Definitely a year of less then usual level of play. A lot of close games that could of home either way minus the Mississippi schools, both of who I think will return to 4/5 on average in the west. Each had regular seasons for the ages for those schools. LSU was very young, and will be back towards top of west, heck they beat Wisconsin when they were all pups.

The SEC went 5-5. Congratulations to all the people who now feel like they won because the SEC will go 6-5 in the bowl games.
Sorry, 7-5 after Tennessee and Florida win.
Even if they lose. 5-7. Oh no. How will the fans carry on? Mass suicide watch. Quote:Sorry, 7-5 after Tennessee and Florida win. Not sure, there will be some very, very sad SEC fans. The SEC went even against the ACC (2-2), lost to the Big 10 (2-1), and won against the Big 12 (2-1). With a Tennessee win they will even up the Big 10 score. And we don't count Florida playing against a mid-major team.

The SEC is a good conference but should definitely not be on the pedestal that it gets put on.
The possibility of 7-5 in a down year, which many called early on in the season, ain't bad. Particularly as close as some of the games that were losses were.
Take a look around. The SEC is everyone's measuring stick. Says something. While we are on it, why does everyone care about conference records, and who did what? I thought that was lost on everyone except for fans with teams in the SEC...Hilarious.

Quote:The SEC is a good conference but should definitely not be on the pedestal that it gets put on. Definitely. I think people are going to call the Sugar Bowl loss a fluke and say Alabama should have won just because it was the Big Ten against the SEC. Anyone who does obviously is ignoring or unaware of the fact Michigan State beat a Big 12 champion hours earlier. It makes me wonder if people not only overrate the SEC, but also underrate the Big Ten. Quote:Definitely. Take a look at past bowl records, head to heads, etc., and this season is an outlier compared to the rest.

Quote:That can most definitley be said this season, and bowl season. How do you know it is an exceptional year and not the beginning of change? Quote:The SEC is a good conference but should definitely not be on the pedestal that it gets put on.Completely agree. The last two SEC champs (the very best of their conference) just got beat by the ACC and BIG10 in consecutive years. Auburn loss to ACC Alabama loss to BIG10 Missouri and TAMU join the SEC (after being mediocre in the BIG12),,, and Missouri plays in 2 straight conference championships, while TAMU stays very competetive. Well, to be fair, when Mizzou was in the BIG12, they were good every 4-5 years. The SEC doesn't nearly belong to be on such a pedestal. They are good,, but not much different from Pac12, BIG10, BIG12 (IMO). Seriously, the East is dreadful. When are UF, UGA, TENN ever going to get back to being power teams? Ever? I'm starting to wonder if the WEST's top 4 teams every year are really all that much more powerful than the rest of the country. Really, I wonder how SEC would've faired if a playoff had been in place the last decade? It's a curious question. I don't see the dominance. Losing consecutive "title" games to the ACC/BIG10. Very curious.
Quote:Completely agree. It is a curious question but one that can never be answered...no matter how it gets spun.
