The ones the Rams abandoned back in 1995 or so finally get their team back.

 

St. Louis should have learned their lessons about keeping stadiums updated, etc., back in 1988, when they lost the Cardinals to Arizona.

 

Yet the same thing replayed itself with the Rams. 

 

It isn't as if the Rams never produced a championship, either. 

 

St. Louis isn't a football town.  In fact, it's one arch shy of being McDonald's.

 

I laughed hard at the McD's comment.  Ha.

 

Yes STL is first a baseball always town but the city has worked really hard putting together renovation plans.  The stadium is very close to a casino and is in a convention center.  The team doesn't like the facility one bit even though it was an insane place when they were the greatest show on turf.  The comments are "dark" and an "unfriendly" facility but all of the plans put together by the city have been very fair and still keep support in place for the convention business.

 

Stan has no intention of staying there one bit.

Fans deserve better. Thanks for all the good times too many are in the past.

That doesn't diffuse speculation that there's a perceived lack of fan support prevalent in the national media when talking about Jacksonville and relocation.  The perception was based on old information from several years ago when the team was mired in the middle of a series of blackouts.  Most journalists have taken note of the dramatic changes in Jacksonville, which is why they don't talk about the Jags as a possible relocation candidate as often as they used to, but there are still a few meatheads in the media who don't really pay attention to things, and they honestly think fans don't support the the Jags locally.

 

The fact that ticket sales would be a factor in relocation only matters when you're talking about a newer team playing in the smallest media market in the league;

Lets the say hypothetically the Rams are back in LA in '16, 5 years past St. Louis gets hungry for a team again. Journalist will skew their journalism and single out losing teams who "struggle" with attendance.

St Louis is about to lose their second franchise in less than 30 years. Regardless of how hungry the city gets, the NFL is not going to want another team there.

Yet another stadium planned for the L.A. area, this time in Inglewood. Seeing as this is coming from an existing NFL owner and one able to terminate his lease, we are probably as close as we have been in the last 20 years to getting a team in Los Angeles.

Two time losers don't get a third chance.  The league won't put another team in St. Louis if they lose the Rams (which seems almost inevitable).

1. There will always be the occasional article implying the Jags are ripe for relocation, usually written by someone who hasn't done any research.  There was one this year about the team moving to London, written by someone IN the UK. 
   
2. I don't think this is a "power check" at all.  Kroenke wants to put his team in the 2nd largest market in the country, and he's willing to foot the bill to build a stadium to make that happen.  He's partnering with another group that owns the land adjacent to the property he bought in order to build the stadium, a performance venue, and provide adequate parking for both.  Meanwhile, Missouri is working on a deal to build a new stadium, but the voters have already passed a referendum saying NO taxpayer dollars would be diverted to fund any stadium project, so the odds of any sort of facility being built in St. Louis seems unlikely.

Don't you like the sponsorship listed on the rendering?  Done deal it would seem.  As a businessman, Stan is shrewd but as a NFL owner he is tough.  Before coming home to Florida, I got to read stories and have the news reports on the STL renovations.  Stan wants to wring out the dollars and screw the city big time.  The proposals were all very fair for the tax payers but not as equitable as the team wants.

 

Be prepared for the ST Louis Jaguars rumors.  The fan base believes that Mr Kahn is an Illinois guy and will bring the team that is rightfully theirs to the area.

Bill Bidwell only business was the football St. Louis Cardinals and when he moved the team to Phoenix he was guaranteed a $7 million profit regardless of his expenses. He always ran the team frugally and rarely had a winning team. His reason for leaving was not a lack of fan support, he wanted a new stadium rather than playing in Busch with scheduling around the baseball team. Those were different times, the city can't be blamed for losing that team.

 

It's true St. Louis is a baseball town first, but there is fan interest to support a franchise should Stan take the Rams to L.A. I expect there will be talk of St. Louis courting another team, possibly the Jags, should that happen.

Any Rams fan who seriously believes the Jaguars are a candidate to move to St. Louis obviously has no idea what we are doing to our stadium. There is no reason to buy the world's largest scoreboards, add a deck with cabanas and pools, or make other stadium upgrades if there are plans to move the team in several years.
